Honestly it was the best decision ever.
49 years old and faced with the need to operate, yes I know I am too young, but it was necessary, the cartilage wore away after years of dancing and exercise. So to build up my strength, and at least help to align my body - I practised yoga. It really helped ( does not suit everybody)
I opted for half epidural/ half general - BEST decision ever . One minute laughing with the Anaesthetist, next I was in recovery.....
I woke up to music, with toes tapping.
There is discomfort, but remember the nurses, physio and OT are there to help.
Don't be brave take the pain killers and eventually ween yourself off.
try and walk as quickly as you can, else the muscles start to cease - my advice is just listen to your body.....
Good luck and keep in touch!!
