Post Gallbladder Removal Problems

Hey there,

I am 18 years old and had my gallbladder removed when I was 16 (Pretty young I know). But recently , I have been getting the sharp pains in my chest mimicking a gallbladder attack. They have the same effect as a gallbladder attack-nausea, sharp pain ! Its happened very rarely over this year (maybe 5 times in total) however it has gotten a bit more frequent like every 2 weeks. I noticed I was getting pain down the right side of my back as well. Any suggestions on what's happening to me?!

A month ago I had a scope done and the gastro doctor removed 50 cc's of bile from my stomach!    I had been having pain exactly where my gallbladder had been and it hurt so badly, I thought I was having a heart attack.   My gallbladder was removed 15 years ago and I have had these attacks off and on, particularly when I eat high fat but this time, it was VERY intense.   The gastro doctor explained that when the gallbladder is gone, bile drips into your stomach and if you can't get rid of it, it causes great pain.   He prescribed Omerprazole 40 mg, which is a time-released pill to get rid of the inflammation in my stomach, but you can purchase this drug or Pepcid 20 mg over-the-counter and it may help you tremendously!   Worth a try.   I am on 80 mg a day but start out with 2 of the 20 mg.   Good luck.

Also, as a suggestion you might wanna try taking calcium carbonate with some magnesium. I read somewhere it bonds bile. I have been having morning bile diarrhea for like 4 years since surgery, and last 3 days when i started taking calcium before i go to bed, i have a better stool in the morning. Maybe you have too much bile dripping at night and it gets to your stomach. Its only a suggestion, but i would try it, it does not cost a lot. Of course visiting a doctor might be a good idea

Completely forgot to reply to this! I had to go to my doctor in the end. I had a big exam and the night before I was crying in pain. Turned out to be bad gastritis and thankfully still on medication for it and don't get the pain as bad anymore!
