Post hip replacement groin pain

I am 9weeks post op with right posterior hip replacement done with the assistance of a robot.  I am very happy except for reoccurring groin pain.

My self diagnosis is tight pectinois muscle in the groin.  I've started doing

stretches and am hoping that works along with continued daily walks.

Anyone else experiencing this type of discomfort?

Groin pain is the ONLY pain I don't have since Anterior replacement....but I'm left with other complications and it's 4 yrs post op next month.

We all seem to end up with something after this MAJOR surgery.....you are very fresh out of this surgery and a LOT can still take place with the healing process.

Be very aware of magnesium and some calicum (not high doses) and Vit D to keep our bones strong and healthy.... Magnesium is a high deficiency mineral in many and it's needed for so much in our bodies......Vit D deficiency is major too.....everywhere north of the Equator....I'm in the U.S. in So. Cal. and I came up very deficient back in 2006.....

So I've been working on these issues for years......

Thank you, Joy.  I am on the vitamins you mentioned.  I have osteoporosis

so the supplements are doubley important.  I'll keep you posted as to how

the stretching is going.  As I sit here I'm squeezing a soft basketball size

ball between my legs (one of the suggested excercises).  I too am in

So Cal and am glad our weather makes for nice morning walks.  Let me

know your successes so I can try them out!!

Yes we do have the greatest climate, but the heat and drought are horrible and we're in trouble.....

Make sure you take ENOUGH mag as many are deficient and it's important...I take normally 1500mg per day, 500mg each dose 3 times per day.....

Where are you, who is your surgeon?

My neighbor friend had a posterior at 82, and she deals with a lot of OA bodywide, like me...but she walks as much as she can...she's fallen and had setbacks....

For me, the groin mess pushed me to the replacement, otherwise who knows where I would have ended up.....groin pain is gone....

I had anterior but it's not been a walk in the park for me.

I'll check my Magnesium.  I'm in East Anaheim and my had my surgery

at St Joseph's with Dr Biviji.  Tell your friend:  I was unstable before my

surgery, worried someone would accidently bump me and I would go down.

I did standing bent-leg leg lifts before surgery and have continued after the

surgery.  My stability has greatly improved as has my mental worry about

being jostled when out in public gatherings.  I really do feel that the right

excercises are mandatory for our healing.  Age as well as OA can be an added stumbling block but should not keep us from getting out there and

moving.  What's that commercial on TV--"a body at rest, stays at rest"!!

Let's be the exception and be ACTIVE in our recoveries.

Oh please you lucky people living in California! Must you boast about the climate? I live in Yorkshire and the sky is grey and overcast for the last three days. I think California would suit me well as I love the sun and a blue sky. Lucky lucky people!

And I groaned and moaned when my ex brought us to CA from Pennsylvania 49 yrs ago, I could never go back. That's why were so packed here in CA, many keep coming.... But we worry NOW about the drought and HOT weather for the last 5 months, which is historical here in about `120 yrs were told.

I lived in Spain during a five year drought. It has a similar climate to CA People were talking of leaving the land as springs dried up. Then one winter it started raining and didn't stop. Half the roads and hillsides collapsed. I have been reading about the CA drought and how it is affecting the almond crop in todays Observer newspaper. It's interesting because in Spain the almonds are not watered during the hot summer. They are grown above the line of the water channels. Anyway we have gone off subject here.

Yes, we do wander off topic some times and that's our nature...but wanted to say that my gf in Palm Springs told me they had about an 1 hr downpour last week with street flooding and people stranded and mud everywhere when it all dried.... storms from Baja MX areas....

We're waiting for the long needed rain, but in the meantime cities are building desalination plants and re-booting the one in Santa Barbara.....

Summer snow reported in the Rockies last week.....Mother Nature is showing us.......
