I haven’t posted for a few years and managed to get on top of my multitude of perimeno symptoms. Suffered hyperemesis when pregnant and what seems to go hand in hand - a very difficult perimenopause. With help from a functional medicine practitioner and lots of research I got myself into a good space until now. Just past the 12 month mark of no period and get hit with heaps of new symptoms, nausea, very sore breasts, burning mouth with metallic taste, urinary issues, internal trembling, dizzy etc. Has anyone else managed to stabilise themselves only to get more issues once they have past the 12 month without a period mark? I was holding onto the thought that symptoms would go away pretty much once I got there - not get worse!! Any of your thoughts would be greatly appreciated before anxiety over takes me. Thank goodness for this forum ![]()
I had burning mouth for more than 2 years after I lost my period, and in the first year sore breasts - I remember this very well because I went to see doctors for both! It all passed, then a host of other problems came. I am almost five year post period, and my vaginal issues actually got worse ( which I read is to expect). I have been diagnosed with pretty severe vaginal atrophy, and I have been using topical prescription estrogen cream for it ( my gynecologist just told me last week do double up the dosage for a month too treat some odorless discharge). Do not want to scare you, but I never had e break : the moment one issue is resolved, another one comes up. Last year I had a brain scan because of legs and arms tingling and numbing; eventually that mounted to nothing serious, thank God. But - it has been always something, all these five years. Hang in there, and try to reduce stress and anxiety, for, I know for sure that makes it worse, if not even causing some of the symptoms.
Hello Lana26181 - so lovely to get your reply - thank you. Comforting to know others share these severe and often uncommon symptoms. Have you been successful with any treatments/therapies? Have you suffered severe morning sickness in the past? I too had a brain scan and my neurologist believed I had stroke symptoms due to dizziness, tingling in arms and legs, numbness and head pressure. Everything was fine - it was worth the expense as since then (1.5 years ago) I now don’t panic with anything strange that appears as I know that my GP is NOT right in saying that these symptoms are not part of menopause. They can be ABSOLUTELY connected to our hormones changing during this time. Its such a tragedy that some GP’s do not truly listen and support women going to them with these issues during menopause -we need understanding, not told we are imagining it or that we need anti-depressants. I am not an anxious person by nature but this surely can make you so - especially during the COVID lockdown. Thanks again for your comments - take care and stay safe ![]()
