Hi, I had a revision of a revision in 2012 due to infection and continue to have pain and problems. Does anyone have advice on the metal ions that were present when I had the first revision. I have only just had a letter from my hospital regarding follow up care which I will be dealing with on Monday. I would just like to know if they are still likely to be too high. I've looked everywhere for help on this but there isn't any. All I can find is advice on MOM hips not post revision? Any help will great!!
hi suzie,
warm welcome to this hippies forum ...
I am sorry but don't have an answer for you ...
I am assuming that you have been back to your surgeon about the pain and problems you experienced after the revision in 2012 ? probably had your blood checked ... what were you told?
When was your Hip replacement surgery ?
The only way to find out is to go to your follow up appointment, sweetheart ...
sorry I can't be of more help
good luck and let us know the outcome okay ?
big warm hug
Suzie
I have two friend who had to have revisions because of metal on metal issues. As I understand it the revisiuon cured the problem. But if your problem was an infection and, presumably, the new hip is not the old metal on metal type I would not have thought metal ions would be an issue. However it's really a question you need to ast your surgeon.
Hope it feels better soon
Mike
Hi Renee for your kind thoughts. I have never actually had my hoods rechecked since the discovery of the high ion levels in 2012 but I am due to speak to the hospital tomorrow about this. So hopefully I will get some answers. Many thanks, suzie58
