Post op bunion surgery

Hi I am now 19 days post surgery !! My stitches are still in situ and been removed on Thursday I am experiencing a lot of cramping sensations in foot is this normal ? Anyone else having same feelings ?

Hi I am 5 mos post op.I had some cramping and twitching in my foot also it will get better in time

Hi Gill, I'm 7 weeks post op and although I've had very little pain and haven't used any more than 6 or 8 paracetamols in all that time, I do still occasionally get cramping and nerve jumping, as well as aching in the big toe and metatarsal bone. This does lessen as the weeks pass however and as far as I am concerned it's all par for the course following this op. Realistically I'm thinking it could take up to a year before the twinges etc will finally go. I still have some swelling under the ball of the foot too but this is intermittent. When this happens I sit and elevate my foot for about an hour until it feels more comfortable. Oh, if you drink plenty fluids too that helps to alleviate cramps;  as well as ward off deep vein thrombosis.

So, in reply Gill I'd say that all your symptoms sound pretty much normal although of course none of us are going to be exactly the same are we. Keep on resting and elevate that foot as much as you can. I reckon you're doing fine. LadyPink

Aww thanks lady pink for the reassurance !

Hi

I had my first foot done in March last year and I'm 14 post op today on my other foot , it is normal to have these sensations , I still get discomfort in my first foot and swelling from time to time , this last operation I have had more pain but I think this is my own fault as the day after my operation I had to move house and had to do this on my own with friends just arriving to drive my things away for me , I haven't had time to elevate my foot at all in 14 days , I had the stitches removed today and apart from the bruising thankfully the consultant seemed pleased with the way it looks
