Hi. I had both arms done separately last year. My hands were still numb at 11pm on the day I had surgery and I was operated at about 10am. Little finger was the first to come round. It was around 11pm that my pain suddenly kicked in...hand was numb but it still hurt thats how I can remember. Good luck with your recovery.
Hi yes this is normal. You will be in pain when all the numbness wears of. So make sure take pain meds.
Hi, yes that sounds normal. My numbness and tingling lasted around 36 hours. My surgeon advised me to start taking my pain relief as soon as I came out of the operation and i never felt any pain at all.
Just take care and don't try to do too much too soon. I am 8 weeks post op now and I can use my hand quite well. I can't life anything too heavy though and my thumb is quite weak. Just follow the Advice and don't rush into doing things too quickly.
good luck
Thanks for all your replies. Mst helpful. Can relax and concentration on recovery and pain relief now 😀
I had both hands done at the same time. On was numb for at least 14 hours, the other had no numbness at all that I was aware of.
Hi. I had my right hand done in September last year and following the operation I had numbness exactly same as you. Apparently the little finger is on a different nerve to the others, so that is quite understandable. It has been a slow recovery for me, the numbness is wearing off slowly, but I never had the pains that I was getting prior to the operation.
