Went to see my obstetrician for my 3 months check I told her I feel worse than before op she was expecting it and was.very apologetic I also need a hysterectomy and anterior prolapse repair because she did a posterior prolapse repair the others have fallen down I have had a pessary ring fitted to help for now and will have another op in August anyone else had the ring is it ok did it help?
Hi Lesley,I had a gelhorn pessary fitted by my gynae consultant to see if it helped whilst waiting for a second anterior prolapse repair, unfortunately I had to hold it in when passing water and it kept falling out when trying to have a bm:-( so I found it unhelpful as it was really difficult and sore to re insert,my consultant told me to stop using it,however we are all different so it may work for you.
Like you I had anterior repair first,
which caused a posteria prolapse which was repaired with mesh(synthetic),however this type of mesh caused me constant lower back pain and it was removed several months later,I have sine researched mesh repairs and biological mesh has the best outcome so I am having my op on the 9th(if its not cancelled, already cancelled once!).Hope things work out for you, keep in touch
Hi Lesley, I am so sorry to hear things have prolapsed more for you! What a nightmare. I also had just a posterior repair, (I am 9 weeks post op) even though the doctor knew I had a small cystocele before he did my surgery. He said he would only grade the cystocele about a 2 and he doesn't usually operate on a 2 so he was just going to leave it and hope it didn't get worse. He even admitted they have a tendency to get worse but he said it could be 2 months or it could be 20 years. My thought was why not just make it a ZERO as long as you're in there anyway?! But he's the doctor so what do I know? Or at least thats basically what we're told. Anyway, your situation is exactly what I've worried about so I feel especially bad for you. How soon did you know the other prolapses were there? Hang in there and so sorry this happened to you!
Hi Dianne you poor thing I only had the pessary fitted yesterday but it's definitely helped with the dragging feeling and the bulge haven't been to the loo yet and was told to hold at front don't know if she meant inside or outside so a bit worried will keep you posted. Good luck with your op keep in touch x
