Post-op Hip Replacement

Hi All,

I am a bit over 16 weeks on my posterior THR.  My hip has been hurting for the past 2 weeks, off and on.  I thought I dislocated the THR.  Well, I went to the surgeon for my post-op visit.  The x-rays showed no damage at all (whew)!!  I questioned him on several things. First, there was a stiffness, a little bit numb feeling in both my feet.  I felt this after the initial THR.  However, he said this would go away in time.  Now he told me to see a neurologist.   Secondly, I gave pain occasionally in my knee, the same side as my THR.  He suggested  I treat it with one tab if Meloxicam followed by a couple of Tylenol.  If it doesn’t go away, I should come backfor a shot of cortisone.  The pain on my THR should go away by taking the meds.  So that is the story.  My next appointment is in 6 months ( unless I have the cortisone shot in my knee).

Regards,

Steve

P.S.

My list of doctors keeps on growing.  A few years ago, I never, in my wildest imagination, thought I’d be seeing so many doctors!!!

Sounds about normal. Everything is still healing but you're doing more and more physical activity and your body is reacting to it. I'm just over a year post op and my knee on the op side has been playing up for the past 2 months but it's decided it's ok and is starting to get better. Hang on in there, you'll get through it ! 👣

Dear Steven

I suggest that you have simply overdone it and need to ease up for a couple of weeks or longer perhaps.

All the best, Richard
