I am 6 days post op gallbladder removal, I had laparoscopic surgery and the cuts are healing nicely. Apart from the usual tiredness I feel not too bad. My question is did anyone else experience pain behind the belly button (not the actual incision that’s all good) and a painful lump/swelling around belly button? Thanks
hi im wondering whether it might be a hernia? is it always there when you stand and goes when you lay on your back? best get it checked out either way
thanks, never thought of that. So can a hernia happen whilst they’re operating?
Hi there i my gall bladder out nearly 4 weeks ago in the first couple of weeks i had a very hard lump under my belly button its now gone must be where they take it out and probably makes it hard and sore !
Thankyou for that, good to know it’s not just me, il persevere for a few weeks. Thanks again.
im no medical expert! but think its possible with laparoscopy surgery. could also be as simple as to where they have been rumaging around it there . i had a slightly larger incision just below the belly button and presume thats where they removed it.
Hi Soozi, I had the same! My belly button area was really swollen. Its only been 6 days and it takes a while to heal. Try not to worry xx
I had gallbladder surgery 10 months ago and have felt exceptionally well since then. I have developed a lump near my belly button incision which my GP has confirmed is a post op hernia. My GP said providing I have no pain, which I haven’t to leave well alone as further surgery to repair it would weaken the abdominal lining.
Hi all
Yes it is the site where they remove it hence a slightly larger incision.
regards

thanks very much for this info.
it is normal for what you are experiencing at this healing stage. the bump can be a hematoma which is scare tissue and blood clot. it will go away no need for concern. you are doing well but it will take a good year of healing. no fats at all please. your body can’t tolerate any fats. be healthy and no stretching or lifting ok. you will be fine.
hi lisa. i am having mine in 2 days and getting nervous
