Hi everyone
Just registered tonight!
i have been watching this site since thr 5 weeks ago and found everyone's advice invaluable and felt it would be nice to say thanks to all who have posted on here.
I'm making a good recovery and realise despite being a very active person that my body is now telling me when I try to return to my previous level of activity to not rush it too soon.
I will keep my " comfort stick" for a wee while yet.
Well now that's not fair , you need to post to tell us how you are doing . Well done for starting .
i am 9 weeks tomorrow (post op , not pregnant ha ha , I am 60 )
starting physio tomorrow as I have a slight limp and need to strengthen thigh muscles .. Otherwise think I am doing ok , looking forward to some reassurance tomorrow .
good luck

Hi Jo
Welcome to this forum....!
Yes it's hard to get that balance of exercise to strengthen in order to heal - and also needing rest...as everyone one says listen to your body!
I'm 4 weeks post op...so a little behind you. I'm enjoying arising from bed without using my hands today...and also sleeping in afternoon too.
Do you have a plan for returning to exercise ? I'm hoping to return to gym n swim at 8 weeks, and very gentle jogging at 12 weeks.

Hi there, glad to hear you are having a good recovery. If you have any concerns or worries, this is a good place to come to. Let us know about your progress.
I think you will find all the advice on here of use.
My physio did say that it would take 12 months to be where my fitness was before the hip problem came to the fore. Main advice is do not overo things based on the fact that if you do, your bady will tell you with aches and pains. You have gone thgrough major surgery and it takes time to fully heal
Hi Mary
overall I'm doing well, gave myself a couple of self inflicted scares just because I'm now pain free and forgot I just went thro a major op.
so taking it more gently now.
very grateful to our NHS
hope your recovery is going well
Hi Dave
never thought I would join a patient forum but so glad I did
got train on my own today and pleased I ventured out
Should be able to return to driving next week but not rushing that either
Thanks for welcome Dawn.
no doubt I shall be watching forum and taking in all advice
Yes thanks saw physio today who reassured me my aches and pains and limp are normal . Need to strengthen muscles ..
i am 9 weeks post op today as I was in hospital called in ward to thank them again for my wonderful treatment . They were very pleased .
Good old NHS
Hi mic
Well done, likewise it's the things we take for granted which makes each task such an achievement
I'm a keen cyclist therefore each day brings me closer to getting back on my bike, not looking for miracles and glad I had op at this time of year and aiming for early summer runs out

Hi Barbara
thanks for welcome.
progress is better than I expected, sometimes worry I am tempting fate by saying that but I'm hopeful it better to be positive
Hi Trevor
Thanks for reply
my fitness was so bad and very restricted walking..pain was dreadful, funny tho I could cycle 50 to 70 mile without any problem but I needed to park beside a wee wall to get on and off, must have been a funny sight.
So looking forward to early summer and slowly building a good level of fitness.
Got my 1st appointment with physio next week, unfortunately I had to beg for it.
