Hello Wendy .
Gosh so your 2011 hip didn't work , that's so sad and dislocations I can only imagine how painful that would of been . I'm 14 weeks post left hip replacement and back at work now feeling good. So you were only in your late 40's when you had your 1st operation what was the reason for that ?
Hi Wendy,
I expect a revision is totally different to the hip replacement but, I could not lift my leg up on it's own for a week after op, I could bend the knee though. Is it the bed exercises you are having a problem with or the standing ones.
I know everyone says it, but we all heal differently. I was sliding my leg and raising my knee the day after the two-hour revision operation, I must have been very lucky.
Take it easy, it is a massive operation, and recovery all depends on what the surgeon had to do to your leg.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery
Graham
Wendy, when I had my first hip replacement the physical therapist wanted me to be able to do straight leg raises. My leg absolutely was not receiving the message from my brain as I could not lift that leg. This went on for several weeks until one day I tried it and up it went! With my second hip replacement, I was able to do straight leg raises almost immediately. Don't worry. It will all come together in time.
You will find that slowly you will be able to lift your leg. I was so surprised that things just improved all the time, just when you thought you were stuck with hardly any movement. Just give it time. Using a frame is fine, get some exercise that will help.
