Post operation recovery - financial support for self employed

Hello

I am just beginning on my journey to investigate and treat pelvic organ prolapse; not sure what will be found, but from what I am reading I anticipate I will need surgery.  

Thank you everyone who has posted their queries/experiences, I feel so much more encouraged and not so alone now! 

I am looking way ahead, but I know I will need to be forward planning to cope financially during my recovery. Has anyone been through the experience of recovering as a self employed person? I am concerned that it seems unlikely I will be able to work for a good few weeks...

Yes, I am in West Wales

I'm sure there will be some self employed ladies on this forum but it depends on what you do as to how it will affect you, such as if you need to drive or sit for long periods.

Hi, I was self employed and had a posterior repair. Im only part time though but I was unable to claim anything. I believe its if you have paid enough NI then you are able to claim. Im classed as a low earner so I dont pay NI so thats why I couldnt claim anything. Good luck

I am a reflexologist so sitting for long periods.....I guess I will need to make plans to accomadate loss of income. .thanks for reply

Ahh, that is useful to know. I will have to ,are some enquiries and find out my position re: contributions etc. Thanks.
