This sounds totally counter-intuitive to me but I don't believe in coincidence so....I had Total Hip Rep about 7 years ago...shortly thereafter I started having considerable problems with my digestive tract. Serious enough to be tested for various illnesses which were fortunately negative...I got the problem under control...with some lingering affects. Then a friend also had a THR and shortly thereafter (within a year) developed Crohn's Syndrome. I'm simply wondering if any of you who have had THR's....also experienced any digestive tract after affects?

That is a really interesting theory. I am only five months post op, and have not developed anything new so far. I have noticed though, the last few years I have developed several food sensitivities. This was before my surgery. Sometimes, things just happen over a period of time and are completely unrelated. Just because we had a THR does not mean we are immune to other diseases or they are caused by or related to. I do hope you find your answers though, it is major surgery and who knows how that effects the body. I will be watching the other replies.

My only guess would be the kind of material the implants are made of and leaking into the body(?)
I've never thought of the materials having the ability to leak...but then again there's a lot I don't know. Mine involved ceramic and titanium, which supposedly have a longer wear life than titanium alone. Thanks for the input.
