Hi! I just had a large prolactinoma removed 4 days ago and have a few questions. I am going a bit crazy and feeling signs of depression. At first it was because I couldn't do anything I wanted, but now I don't even want to do anything that I wanted to because everything feels pointless! This plus my anxiety so the reason I found the tumor in the dirt place was because I felt depressed and anxious one day out of nowhere and that was a few months ago.
First not dirt. Also a few other questions, is it common to become hot and then very cold? And I have a follow up where they will remove the crusting in my nose, what is this like? Thanks! Sorry that the first half was more of a rant then a question 😖
Hello Julian, have you mentioned how you feel to any of your specialists or GP? It might be good to speak to someone as quickly as possible. Did they put you on hydrocortisone or another steroid? Also in answer to your question of feeling hot then cold, YES! I experienced it too but I had a Non Functioning Macroadenoma removed. For a few days my body temperature struggled to get up to normal but that has settled down. Steroids can worsen the effect of depression or feeling low so it is very important to contact someone asap - don't leave it. How are you doing apart from this feeling?
Hi! No I'm not on hydrocortisone but I am on a different steroid. Besides these symptoms I feel ok, just fatigued and annoyed with my stuffed nose! Haha, oh and I'm glad to hear the temperature issues are rather normal after this surgery. I'm seeing one of the doctors tomorrow so I'll definitely bring my depression up, I think it's the endocrinologist tomorrow so that is perfect. Thanks for your response
Hi there, I am pleased to hear that you will discuss your feelings with the specialist tomorrow. Is it dexamethasone or predisonone steroid? All of these, including hydrocortisone are known for affecting your mood, especially if there was depression prior to starting on steroids. Oh the stuffy nose thing grrrrrrr that settles down too. My nose is still an issue 3 months post surgery but it's getting better. Just make sure you use the nasal washes on a regular basis to help the crusting to shift. Any sign of an infection, get straight down to see the ENT to get some meds. Best wishes and let us know how you get on tomorrow. :-)
Hi! Yes I'm taking predisonone, couldn't remember the name. Went to the endocrinologist but he said what everyone doctor does when I mention anxiety or depression, shrug it off but my nose is sooo much better today!
Hi, I am now 4 months post surgery and I began having a nasal drip down my throat again mixed with blood. This hasn't happened since about 2 months ago. My doctor said that there's nothing to be concerned about and didn't explain anything or give me any suggestions. My head hurts today too now and I'm still hacking up bloody mucus, not alot tho. I am just curious if you have experienced this as well?
