I'm 6-mos post-Rezum, but have seen little or no RE improvement; I stopped finasteride in mid-Nov, and alfozosin in mid-Oct; urinary symtoms completely resolved, but urologist indicates that I'm probably among small % of patients w/permanent RE, despite my having elected Rezum over TURP to avoid the problem. Just wondering if others have had similar experience.
Did you have Re before REZUM ? Hank
Have you tried ciallis? It seems is working well for me. I have been taking it along with avodart.
Stan. Very sorry that you are having a problem with RE but there have been many of the men that have had RE from the Rezum procedure. Doctors do said it's about 4% but after reading the post over the last year it seams to be 10 to 20%. The ejaculatory duct's are blocked. That's happen when the steam destroyed the tissue in the capsule of the prostate. It does not know what is good tissue or bad. I am not for sure but I think it can be un blocked you just have to fine a doctor to do it. Take care Ken
I wouldn't say I'm quite all the way to RE, but I lost about 75% of what I had. Ejaculation amount is much smaller and us usually delayed for 5-20 seconds. Every once in awhile, I have a pretty normal one. Tends to be best on a second one within an hour or so.
I am happy for you in a way At least you were able it save something. I will have to ask my doctor and look into it. But I think it can be repaired if it is blocked over. Have a good even my friend Ken.
Thx for input; never had RE until prostate relief medications, neither of which do i take anymore
The half-life of certain prostate medications can be extremely, EXTREMELY long, and those drugs can still retain potency / efficacy, with just a few parts per billion (ppb), MONTHS after discontinuation. Give it a little more time.
" ... Tends to be best on a second one within an hour or so ... " Asking rhetorically. What happens if you take your time and focus on delaying your orgasm?
I am not sure about alfuzosin, but when I stopped Doxazosin, my RE was gone significantly after a week. But I then started it again. Hank
thx for the encouragement; will just have to wait and see
Hey George how long have you been on Avodart. That drug can really mess up your sex life. Good luck Ken
when did you do the rezum. has your RE improved at all since this post 3 months ago?
What about your BPH symptom improvement? Is that significantly better 6 mos after Rezum?
That can make it more intense if I focus on it, but it has no impact on how much or how quickly I ejaculate, which is completely random. Occasionally its like the pre-Rezum days, occasionally almost nothing comes out and most of the time about 5-% of what I used to ejaculate will emerge 5-15 seconds post orgasm. About half the time if I have a second orgasm within an hour, or sometimes as much as two, I ejaculate pretty normally.
No. Both my flow and partial RE have been unchanged for awhile. I had Rezum done over 2 years ago - the pee improvement was all it was going to be at about 6 months, it took about a year to get partial ejaculation back, but its been unchanged for over a year. Overall it was worth it - I lived my life around the bathroom prior to the procedure and I don't know/ IPSS score went from the low 30s to 16.
what was your original issue ? was it having to go all time time , you had trouble getting pee out, or both?
Both. If I waited too long I could get locked up and it would take several attempts over 30 minutes. I had to go every hour or tow at most. Middle of the night was really bad and I had a two or three retention episodes over a few years - fortunately I was prepared for self cathing when they happened.
yep, I had rezum and have retrograde ejaculation 6 months out.
