Hi, I had a scarf/akin op on 5th October so am now 5 weeks post-op. I am wondering if anybody has the same problem as myself - absolutely freezing cold big toe now and again - and if anybody has had this have they found any solution to it. My house is warm, I wear a sock but still get this really, really cold big toe now and again. I have tried moving my ankle repeatedly to increase the blood circulation, wrapping it in a warm towel and other things but nothing seems to help. HELP!!!
Hi Paula
I had a bunion corrected on my right foot on 29 August (cuneiform fusion). I have experienced something similar but it was my entire foot that kept getting extremely cold. I would wrap it up and pop a hot water bottle on it and it did the trick. It happened on and off for about 2 weeks, around 6 weeks post surgery. I never found out why. I hope yours settles.

Hi
I had a rather strange experience during first two weeks and wonder how if it was due to post op bandages being tight. The tip of my big toe felt hot I was still having a lot of swelling so my foot felt hot and tingly yet when I touched the dressing in the body of my foot it felt cold. I put on s very thick sock and used a hot water bottle in bed. My foot then seemed to warm up and the circulation improved and my whole foot felt better. When the post op dressing was removed it was obvious from the shape of my toe that the dressing had been tight. All settled down now.always check with yr surgeon if concerned. Nerves and tissues do get bruised in the op and given time most will improve. I had my op 9 October.
Thanks Lisa I'll try that. Mind you we were out in the supermarket yesterday when it got really cold so it might be an idea to get one of those hand warmer things they do nowadays to put between the boot and my foot - that should give anybody watching me doing it something to laugh about.
all the best, Paula
