Post Tonsillectomy Healing

I had a tonsillectomy roughly 3 weeks ago (18 years old) and it took about 17 days for my scabs to fall off. I went to a post-op appointment and was told that I had granulated tissue growing on both of my wounds. I’ve been doing a lot of research (just google searching) and can’t find any information on granulation tissue after a tonsillectomy. Generally, I’m wondering how long its going to be there before my wounds are completely healed and how it smells.

Extra Information: I am feeling no pain and I haven’t taken any pills for about a week. I’m drinking about 64-96 ounces of water every day. The tissue is white, and the area in front of the tonsils is dark reddish.

However, it is likely the body is producing granulation tissue (or healing tissue) in the area of your surgery. Rarely, infections or inflammatory reactions of the remaining tissues can develop after surgery. Although feeling a sore throat after surgery is normal, it should resolve. Persistent symptoms 3 months after surgery should be evaluated further.
