Posterior repair

I had my op almost 6 months ago and recovered really well, did everything I was advised, had 3 months off work and until recently I have felt great. I now feel like it has prolapsed again as feel heavy down below ago, water works spraying again and bowels not so good, can this happen and why ,do I need to see dr,really don't want to have more surgery, anyone got any ideas or been in same boat

You need to see your GP and get a proper diagnosis because until you do you'll just keep worrying and it could be wrong. If you have prolapsed again it's unlikely a Urogynaecologist would want to operate for some time and he'll probably look at alternatives such as physiotherapy.

Thanks for that,I think I will make an appt to put my mind at rest

I think that's a good idea and if there is a problem the sooner you see someone the better. If your GP suggests a referral ask to see a Urogynaecologist because if physiotherapy is recommended he/she will refer you on to a specialist physio. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Will do thank you

Hi Karenc,

I had hysterectomy and anterior repair 3 years ago, and discovered around 5/6 months post op that I still had a prolapse but not as bad as before op.

I returned to world of work at 8 months and managed for next 2 years without needing any intervention, had to keep up with pelvic floor exercises on daily basis and swimming on a regular basis.

I had been doing well, working only 2 days a week with only occasional overtime. However had been doing 5 shifts a week on the run up to Xmas, and also had been covering a regular shift on my feet for most of the shift. Think this is what done it eventually prolapse came down further getting worse with each shift.

I so wanted to build up more regular hours but pelvic floor just wasn't having it, it is so disappointing. I think you always have to be careful after these repairs.

I do hope you manage to see the physio I know that will help you and that you are able to avoid more surgery.

Healing hugs x💖
