Potential Coeliac Disease Symptoms?

I am hoping to be referred by my doc after my next appt. on May 9th, however in the meantime, another responder in the bowel disorder group suggested what i've described could well be symptoms of Coeliac Disease, so I thought i'd ask here too.

Background to my problems are that, I've been back and forward to the docs with problems with my gut/bum and rear since 2006, this has gradually gotten worse and I would say peaked in the last two and a half years. Just recently, I've been to the docs and was tested for Colitis, Crohns etc which are all thankfully egative (except one which is still waiting on a doc look over) - not sure if Coeliac Disease was tested for, as it wasn't mentioned. (The doc said it certainly sounded like a IBD issue at the appt).

So leads me to question what the fluff is going on? Hope my doc will refer me to hospital.

My symptoms are;

Regular fresh blood in poo.

Uncomfortable feeling on bum (itch and wet feel no matter how much I try to keep it clean, often some poo there too, can be after wind, but doesn't have to be) - *sorry for being revolting*

Gas pretty regularly (noticeably so).

Stomach cramps now and again, more than I remember from before.

Caught short, when I have to go it has to be then.

Regular diahorrea and sloppy greasy poo, it has been a mustardy brown colour, often with a smell I cannot place **I dont intentionally sniff it honestly **

tiredness (I do have small children, but the tiredness has only got worse in the last few months *the kids are 3 years and 17 months old).

Has anyone had this, hopefully someone can shed some light please? If anyone could shed some light i'd be most greatful. Thanks!

to be honest with your symptoms they should be referring you for an endoscopy and a colonoscopy. The Endoscopy can then look for any upper bowel issues and can also do a biopsy for Celiac. The colonoscopy will check the lower bowl. With Celiac you don't necessarily get blood and therefore this is the key symptom they should be checking unless off course it's piles which would explain the itching. 

Dont let them mess you around, demand a referral to a consultant for these tests. Blood should always be explored further and assumptions should not be made. I did bleed but it was due to the explosiveness of the celiac and turned out to be just that and not anything more serious. 

Take control and demand tests.  Do not be fobbed off, if you haven't already had these tests then ask for them. 

On a side note I had mustard coloured diarhea when I had gallbladder problems, ask them to check this too.

Regular fresh blood in poo sounds serious and should be examined, so I fully agree with Sharon. Otherwise your symptoms sound a lot like an acute case of coeliac disease. I did not have diarrhea or serious stomack problems, but I remember my mom complaining how my bedroom smelled every morning before I was diagnosed.

been checked multiple times for piles over the years, had every lotion an potion going - without success. I am going to push for some further tests at the hospital as these symptoms haven't gone away and if anything seem to be getting worse and more regularly happen

Yes, in that case the first thing to do is to have the blood test for coeliac disease done (or recheck with your doctor whether it's been taken already). Then hopefully in short order gastroscopy. Good luck!

I had all the diahorrea and the cramps. The number of times I had to run into a pub and use the loo was numerous. But I never had the blood and I would be demanding a very quick colonoscopy if I were you. Please don't be fobbed off. The sooner you sort it the better. So don't just 'hope' it happens, make sure it happens. Good luck.

I have quite similar symptoms. Ive just recently had a blood test screening for Coeliac  disease and am awaiting results. 

My main symptoms are very bad stomach cramps/stabbing pains, (particularly if I've eaten Rye bread, porridge, or wheat based cereals like Weetabix, although all foods containing wheat seem to give me diarrheoa to some extent.) I also get blood in my poo although that is only when the stomach pains have been particularly severe. My poo is always greasy and often floats. It varies between being a greenish brown colour and very dark. Although when I have a chest infection it is orangey coloured for some reason. There is usually fat in the toilet water. I also get the unusual smell you described and the persistent tiredness. Sorry if this is grossing people out, but I can sympathise with you.
