Potential Iliopsoas tendonitis post THR?

Hello, had total right hip replacement mid November 2017. Was doing great but now have groin pain again. Can tell it is muscular.

Dr said to go back on 800mg of Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation. He also said I was walking as I was long in the operative leg but it is not long.  3 weeks later this has still not resolved. Don’t go back to Dr. For another 3 weeks. Potential iliopsoas tendonitis? Thoughts or personal experiences?

Same here onnly on 400 mg every 8 hrs. Use heat too but nothing helps.

Nole,

Sorry to hear you're in pain.  I haven't had surgery yet- this year most likely.  The psoaz muscle is a deep abdominal/torso/back muscle, it can be helpful to look up some anatomic drawings to locate and understand its position and function if you haven't already.  In dealing with back pain in the past a very skilled deep massage therapist would work on this muscle to get it to release.  When successful it would relieve my pain.  The technique to get the release is considered an advanced one by most therapists because they essentially use their finger tips to apply pressure to the side of the abdominals and get under them to the psoaz.  It's tricky for them because they are getting so close to internal organs and have been warned of damaging them.  If you can find someone who knows this technique and works on the muscle you might find it helpful.  There are also some youtube videos for stretching the psoaz to get it to release but I would run them by a physical therapist or a doctor before trying the.  Hope you begin to feel better soon.

Thank you! I actually am going for massage tomorrow hoping it will help.
