Potentially Cracked Filling?

Hi,

Let me start with I am terrified of the dentist. I recently started trying to be better. I went for my last cleaning and check 3 months ago, no issues found. However, 3 weeks ago I bit into an olive pit which cracked a filling in my top back molar. Dentist replaced the filling. Then a couple of days later i decided time to chew on that side again, i still felt a pinchy slight pain. No issue with hot or cold, now only when chomping down. The pain appears to be coming from the tooth next to it, which also has a filling. It doesn't appear to have a crack like I've seen in the past. My mind is wandering everywhere from root canals or worse, just cause of my bad anxiety. I am going to call to go this week. I'm hoping it's not something worse, could it be just another simple filling replacement? They are/were both amalgram metal ones if that matters. I don't see any visible chips or cracks on surface with my little mirror, or signs of decay at the surface. Hope to God no decay under.

Just freaking out and looking to get general thought about my situation.

Thanks for reading.

I don't think you can see a crack in the filling. I don't have any mirrors or a view into my mouth where I could do that. I'd recommend calling ASAP because if there is a crack in there - you'd want to deal with it before any bacteria grow and then require you to get deeper drilling or worse a root canal.

I hear you though. Anxiety is the worst. Do you have a dentist you can trust? That's what I'm looking for.

I am calling, I plan to go this week. I have a dentist I trust, I'm just trying to hold my anxiety at Bay. My last filling that cracked, which I was saying was 2 weeks ago. It's the tooth next to this one. I was thinking this filling if also cracked, since it didn't start to be an issue until I crunched down and broke the other. I was able to see a break in the fillings in the past, not this one though.

I'm sort of freaking out now, so I made the dentist appointment for later this week.  I am really hoping its not something severe, like a root canal.  I dont have any pain without trigger, I still cant chew on it but if I do the pain is not lingering.  Drinking hot/cold I feel nothing out of the norm.  I really hope I am only looking at a filling, I can cope with that.
