My 16 year old daughter was diagnosed with PR and it has been a total nightmare. She was prescribed a 60 mg daily dose of Prednisolone (cortisone) and after 10 days she had all sorts of side effects such as irritability, lack of sleep, stomach and intestine problems, confusion, depression, amongst many others. The patches had nearly gone but she could no longer take this medication. Prednisolone did work and made it go away but could not cope with side effects! The rashes have now come back slowly and we do not know what to do any longer! Cetaphil seems to be good and we will try Tanning this week!
STOP using cotisteroids, its widely known that no current medication is highly effective for PR all u must do is to help for the rash and itch until it fades by itself, i suggest to avoid showers because it irritates the skin and makes things worse especially warm water.
I took antihistamine benadryl once 24h, used to use a solution twice a day containing zinc and babypowder , light diet good sleep and calcium+ vitamin c pills everyday, it waded within 3 weeks
P.s
If ur daughter uses deos or other fragrances she should stop them.
Thank you very much! We will do as you have suggested! 👍
Wow!!!! I hate the side effects of any steroid. They can also damage your liver. I live in south Texas, and work outdoors, the sun didn't do anything for my PR. They prescribe steroids to help with itch- mask it, not cure it. Try some coconut oil- the cooking kind, that helped a bit. Best part is it will go away!!
Thank you so much! I have also heard that Morinha oil is good! Taking my daughter to see another Dermatologist tomorrow! Second one at £400-500 for a Consult, not easy! Will share what this one says now!
Sorry, it is Moringa oil!
Hi everyone! I took my daughter to a private GP at Harley Street who prescribed her two creams/ointments and after using one of them only once, the rashes are already going, clearing! I hope this is it! The name of the cream is Dermovate Ountment 30g (clobetasol propionate)! I will keep you all posted!
Glad that is helping. It is a high powered steroid cream. Please watch her carefully for side effects, steroids can be very nasty
Thank you very much! Only using this for one week and then swapping for another one, not so potent for another couple of weeks! If this does not work, then we will go to the biopsy route as my daughter is 16 and this has gone over 3 months!
No, she has not! Unfortunately I cannot get this in the UK! Interesting enough, the Dermovate ointment is working already and rashes nearly gone! Some new ones appear but I keep applying Dermovate and they go very quickly! I will try another week and hope for the best! Thank you!
