hi was just wondering got my pre assessment on the 24 july normaly after how long do you have your operation

Within a month, I was lucky because I accepted a cancellation they had to rush my pre assessment through on the Thursday and Friday and then had my op on the Monday.

Obviously depends which part of the country you're in as I was told within 12 weeks. I live in Aberdeen

Hi well I hade my pre op about 10 days before I went in but I think it can take about a month to b admitted. But not 100% on that hope it helps

Best thing is to ask the nurses when you go for your pre op.

I had pre assessment Monday op Thursday. Think it just depends on where you are

Before your assessment you should get a theatre date letter through. If not chase up with consultant secretary.

they can't leave you too long between assessment and operation otherwise the assessment results will be too old.

I already had my date for the op before the pre assessment. It was less than a month after the assessment.

Tell the truth in scared I hoping it won't be for a couple of months yet

Hi Alhajasif,

Don't be scared because its not nearly as bad as you think it's going to be! I was terrified!

Even when you are given your op date, its possible that your op might be cancelled at last minute. Then you'll be given a new date. But I hope that doesn't happen to you! When it happened to me, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!

I hope it all goes well. You'll get lots of helpful advice from everyone on this lovely forum as you go! Just ask!
