Was due to have my pre op tomorrow, 3rd, but it's been put back to the 17th, now I'm panicking that the op will be cancelled too. Everything has been organized ready, childcare, partner having time off and I've already been signed off work due to the pain. Hoping and praying that nothing goes wrong and I still get my op on the 22nd .
Fingers crossed for you, get it done before the hospitals busy winter season.
Having a pre-op or operation cancelled is traumatic for us, juggling work, home, childcare, partners. Sometimes I wonder if the medical profession really understand the complications it causes a patient and their family.
Praying you will have your surgery and no more cancellations.
Hope you have your op when planned but, if it is cancelled ring the surgeons secretary 2/3 times a week asking for a cancellation. Make a nuisance of yourself, then you are more likely to get a date,
I didn't have my pre-op till a week before my procedure so hopefully you will still be ontrack for 22nd. Make sure you tell them you have got quite complex after care plans already in place. I'm sure they'll try to help. I hope all goes well for you. It's a marvellous operation and you will love not being in pain anymore. Do be prepared for some hard work getting mobile and doing your exercises. Trust me it's worth it. Good luck.
I was not told the date of my op until well after my pre op. I was petrified the op would be cancelled. As you say you organise care etc beforehand. It does seem that hospitals are not really aware of how much organisation is needed when they ask you to come in and visit them for a while and then muck you around. I had to have an emergency operation after my hip op for a problem caused. Turned up on a Sunday at 7.30am sat around until 3.30pm when I was told they were very behind and they would be working until 10.30pm if I wanted my op then. I decided to go home and have it the next day.
