Prescribed prednisone for a chest infection 4 days ago and haven't slept yet. When i try to sleep i get a terrible rushing feeling come over me stopping sleep altogether causing bad anxiety. This repeats over and over and is driving me insane. My eyes are burning and blood shot red. I am angry all the time now too and yelling at my son for minor things. I am stopping this drug today. Never again will i take this horrible drug. And after reading other peoples experiences i just hope these symptoms subside soon because I'm going crazy
Is it a short term prescription. Check with pharmacist first that you can stop it suddenly.
They do prescribe these short courses to avoid side effects and while prednisone can cause all sorts of changes, these sound unusual. Remember that you are recovering from an infection and that might also be having an effect on you. Generally any drug side effects should fade quite quickly when you stop the drug, if you are taking antibiotics they might also be in the frame. You might need to check this out with your Dr.
Hi again Adam Predisone lowers resistance to infection and is usually prescribed with an antibiotic. Pred caused depression in me. It is one of the many side effects. Mind my asking what antibiotic you are taking? If the pred is high dose short term usually five day course then it should be safe to stop straightaway. Your dr should have given you proper instructions on this. This is why it is best to check with him or if quicker with a pharmacist . You need to ring your dr if having these signs and symptoms. Is your temperature raised ?
