After many years on Premique Low Dose, I now find it is not in stock at any Chemists. Is anyone else having the same problem? If so, is there a similar HRT I can change to?
Are you in the UK? GP's usually know what can be prescribed in place of any drug that is hard to source.
Yes I am in UK, I'm waiting for a response from my GP. My main worry is that an alternative HRT isn't as suitable (causes weight gain amongst other things).
That's such a shame. I do hope you find something suitable. I don't know why there is such a problem getting hold of some drugs. It happened to me with an analgesic that really worked.
Hi - thanks for your reply. I will be positive and hope for ( possibly) a more effective alternative, let's look on the bright side . I've also noticed natural alternatives and would be interested to know if they work. Thank you.
It's the same here in St.Helens! I was going to try and them on the Internet but might be a bit iffy. I don't want the hot flushes again.
Search for MIMS HRT, as far as I understand it, MIMS is what the doctors use to find drugs. After a quick look, I couldn't see an obvious exact alternative, as there don't seem to be many that use conjugated (horse) estrogens and wonder if they are moving away from these now?
I wondered if you had found an alternative. I have been on this Premique Low Dose for years. When this wasn't available the GP put me on the standard Premique, on alternate days. However, I am really unhappy with it. I am back to having hot flushes, day and night. Looking in Mimms the dose on alternate days is still more than the low dose
Hi debsimpa
I am on Premique low dose and was getting my 6 months supply on prescription from Boots the Chemist although the last time (4 months ago) they said they didn't have them in stock and I had to go to Tesco Pharmacy. I am 63 and my UK doctor is happy to prescribe them but my Spanish GP (I am here most of the year) has said she wants me to come off HRT as I have been on it for 10 years although I did have a 2 year break 2010 - 2012!
I am just waiting for blood test results to tell me where my hormone levels are at but think I want to try the bioidentical hrt route, I don't intend to come off it though. Tesco Pharmacy didn't have a problem with supplying Premique Low dose when I went to them so perhaps a couple of phone calls to ask might be worth a try or look at the BioIdentical alternative.
Good luck and it's great to see more positive reports in the recent press for HRT.
I have had the same problem even resorting to ringing up the manufacturer in Kent to get supplies without success. Have been prescribed an alternative HRT from my GP called Kliovance, the lowest dose. Seems to be okay although I have had a couple of days spotting in the 5 months I have been using it. I keep going back to chemist to see if premique in stock but always being told no. Premique was the first HRT I tried and it works. Let's hope it returns soon.
Hi, my GP has now prescribed Femoston-conti 0.5mg (after great deliberation). Feel ok, having occassional mild flushes, but my Achilles Tendonitis has returned, although my GP beleives there is no connection between hormones & this condition. It's worth reading up on (general tendon pain) as there are many women who are suffering from tendonitis and similar conditions, and associate it with the menopause. Any feedback is welcome.
Hi, Just had the same problem. Pharmacist could not fulfill all my prescription. What alternative were you prescribed? Really got on well with Premique so hope there is something similar available..
Hi, I'm now on Femotron 0.5mg, although get mild flushes and my Achilles tendonitis has returned. I'm wondering which hormones are not in this medication, compared to Premique.
My GP has now given me a prescription for Premique, but a higher dose and advised me to take one on alternative days. I will see how it goes.
Hi all
Has anyone managed to find a suitable alternative to the low dose Premique? this is the first time I have not been able to get it. I need low levels of Eostrogen but higher doses of progesterone. I did source some on the internet but it was the higher dose and I don't want to risk that. Any advice would be most welcome.
I was prescribed Kliovance 1mg/0.5mg film coated tablets as an alternative to Premique low dose HRT.
Sandra, I was prescribed Kliovance 1mg/0.5mg film coated tablets as an alternative to Premique HRT, so far they seem to work.
good morning and thank you for that, I will call and speak with my GP today, although after a long discussion with him yesterday he's prescribed Premarin as 2 pills, (made by the same manufacturer) but broken down he said it's the same formula as the Premique low dose, I will try it and if it doesn't work I'll go back with your recommendation.
He was impressed with this forum as a helpful method for those of us who are able to chat about various issues so thanks again. sandra
Good luck Sandra and yes, please let us know on the forum if your alternative does work.
Left with 2 weeks supply of Kliovance so have rung round various chemists in Hampshire. No stock of low dose Premique anywhere. Perhaps we should start a petition to the manufacturers in Kent.
