prescribed tibolone

today i was prescribed tibolone and just took my first one. After reading these threads i think it will be my last. I too get hot flushes probably 1 or 2 an hour for the past 2 years (I am 52) but i dont want to risk getting all these side effects. It seems the negative comments far outweigh the positives.I think i will just put up with it and hope it goes away in a couple of years. Can someone tell me if you take hrt does the hot flushes etc. come back worse when you come off it?

Thanks for reading

Hi, I was just reading your post today and I have been on Livial before, immediately after my hysterectomy in Jan 2006 but came off it after a month or so, i think i was scared off HRTs in general. I now don't take any oestrogen supplement and I am sure thats why my hot flushes have gone mad, and my weight just goes on and on and on, my diet is superb, I don't even look at 'naughty food' but still the weight goes on. So unfair, depressing and demoralising to say the least. So I shall try and go back on Livial (just typed up a repeat prescription to my Docs online website) to start tomorrow hopefully. This time i will stick to it for 3 months, then give a proper diagnosis of what its like for me. Every body is so different, each person's makeup is so varied, its impossible to predict what will suit you and what won't. You may get on with it famously..onthe other hand you may not, only a good trial period will tell really. Best of luck to all you ladies and at least we know we're not alone with all these problems.

Fiona P.S. Anyone seen my libido, it left me two years ago, not seen since!!!! LOL

Hi there,

I just came across your posts whilst looking for information on Tibolone. There seems to be a huge mishmash of info on it. Im a 25 year old female, and because of endometriosis etc the hospital have arranged for me to get Prostap Sr Vial injections to bring on early menopause and because of this has prescribed Tibolone tablets for me. I have not started them, but feel really uncomfortable about doing so because I've been reading lots of good and bad about them. Can anyone give me advice? I was toying with the idea of taking the injections, and instead of taking the Tibolone tablets, looking into alternative therapies, but I really just dont have a clue! Any advice at all would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Hi margaret I too have suffered with endometriosis and have had 2 major operations for this.I started Tibolone last week and have had my 1st injection, symptoms so far are that i have had a sore and sicky feeling in my tummy this week. The doctor wants me to try this for 6 months and if ok then to carry on for another 2 years,as this will let me be period free for a while or i will have to get a full hysterectomy. If you have had your family then if i were you i would give it a go,you can always stop after a month if it doesnt agree with you.GOOD LUCK
