Hi i am in early stages of being diagnosed and just had blood tests taken after dr mentioned fibro. I can never feel refreshed and constantly feel tired, have cold symptoms, headaches, achy joints, constantly feel cold and have cold hands.
Just wanted to ask does anyone suffer with pressure when they lie on either side of their hips at night. I find i have to keep changing position as pressure feels really bad. Why do i feel so old at 45 lol
Hi Princesswinnie
Ahh...poor you. I feel for you. Yes, I too have pains throughtout the night and I am contantly tossing and turning but can never find a comfortable position. I too am 45 and was only diagnosed with fibro Aug 2014. I have been sufrfering since I was 23.
Unfortunately, staying calm and stress free is the way forward. Need to take a day at a time.
Gentle Hugs.

Yes i try too but dont handle stress well. My dog died 2 weeks ago and i must admit my symptoms felt worse.
Now panicking over blood results as tested for rhemology if they come back clear will dr think there is nothing wrong with me after he mentioned fibro?
Hi, I have all the symptoms you mention plus many more including memory problems, concentration, pain in my joints and muscles head to toe, migraines and I hobble around on a stick feeling like I'm 90 lol. Also at the stage of life we are at also brings us menopausal symptoms, many of which overlap with fibro. Hip pain is dreadful for me too as I have osteoarthritis so I am constantly trying to get comfy at night. Has your GP referred you yet to a rheumatologist to correctly diagnose you. He may want to take an MRI of your hips. Please rest assured though, you are not alone
No he hasnt i went to drs on thursday after feeling like this for a year. My original appt a year ago i had blood tests which were clear and was told i was depressed so i went away thinking there was nothing wrong.
I have noticed since i changed my job 8 months ago i have felt worse and was just thinking maybe i was getting too old for my kind of work, so went to drs and told him i felt rotten all the time and never felt refreshed.
He mentioned fibro referred me for bloods and put me on naproxen and i go back in 2 weeks.
He has put me on the sick for 2 weeks as my job is physical and i cant manage it. Worried if my bloods come back normal he will say there is nothing wrong. Just a waiting game as im not sure if i have fibro or not
There is no test for fibro except the hotspots which are painful places common to all fibro sufferers. I was at the Rheumatoligst a few weeks ago, I told her I thought I needed a new hip because it was extremely painful, she told me to stand up, she touched exactly where it hurts. She said it is one of the pressure points for fibro, it is right on the hip joint, a whole bunch of nerves run over the joint, when they get inflamed we get pain. Sounds like what is happening to you. It has a name, bursal something, it hurts like hell!
Hope you feel better soon, it will settle down but we don't know when.
regards
Shelagh
Hi thank u. Just wondered why i was send for a blood test for rhemo. Just want my dr to believe me....i am not in absolute agony but more like tooth ache in neck back arms wrists and pressure on hips when i try to sleep. The fatigue is far worse for me at the moment as well as feeling like i have had a heavy night on the booze, by the way i cant face alcohol which is also strange
Hi Princeswinnie; (love the name)....yes, I think we all can honestly say that this tooooo common....and for me, my body won't even accommodate me, in making Just one side a problem each night....it will be the shoulder/jaw on one side and the hip/knee on the other side, for each night.....so hence, am having to continually re-negotiate with my body which side, and at what time/s does it want me to lie on????can be frustrating, and as you say, not letting me/us have the Quality sleep that I Want....hence the mornings are also an issue with me and my body....not a good situation to be in, hey? I don't think we ever get used to it....we just have to say "ok, body...you win"....and try the same old argument the next night.... as for the symptoms of "feeling like you have a cold/flu", that's was the first statement I made to a doc...."I am always feeling as if I have the flu from the neck down"....keep at it, and don't be surprised if all blood tests come back Normal...they always will......try and sleep well tonight...........Bron
Awww thanks winnie was my dog that passed 1 week ago today still miss her.
Yes i suppose i just didnt expect him to say it sounds like fibro as i always thought i would be in loads more pain but hey we are all different.
I am constantly tired even if i do manage to sleep well. Also about to start my period, which never used to give me pain but last night had to have a hot water bottle as pain was worse than i had ever had...
StStruggling to hold this phone as my arm aches
So sorry to hear about your dog.
Just try not yo think about your blood tests. During the period of now and when you get your results focus on things that make you happy.
We are all here to support you through good and bad times.

Morning Winnie....yes I can also feel re your dog....this is a stressor, as our pets are like our family, and death is a stressor, and I have found that with each stressor, comes another body part that succumbs to the Fibro. As for your menstrual cycle....I, for many years, suffered from Endometriosis....which funnily enough, when researching fibro, found that the statistics show that this condition is a precursor to Fibro (in women that is)...can't correlate how, but as the statistics also show, there are more women than men who become Fibro sufferers over men.....there are so many Statistics, but the one that I really believe in is that when we have too many Major Stressors in life, it is our body's way of saying "enough is enough". Also don't think that because "you are not in excruitating pain", that it won't be Fibro....I think if any of us really think about it....none of us are all the time....it's more a case of so many parts of our body being painful, for no apparent reason, for such a long time, that our pain thresholds wear down....and then in comes the emotions, and so the saga continues....we are all human, and we find that we "just can't cope anymore".....we want to know what is wrong...why are we feeling like this all the time? and then we get our diagnosis, and start the appropriate treatment (and when I found Amitriptylline and Gabapentin,,,I am happier, and usually coping)....also we all need to learn to listen to our bodies....what some call "pacing"...it is a trial and error situation, and you will learn from all on this web-site.....keep at the learning/researching........a hug today....Bron
So sorry to hear about your dog. Yes, on the occasions I can actually sleep hip pain hits and I have to adjust how I sleep. It can help to put a pillow between the knees. I often have to resort to resting in a chair to ease the pain, even with a memory foam mattress the pain is still there. The pain comes and goes for me so sometimes I can rest with no hip pain because it has jumped somewhere else. It is different for everyone and it takes time to get to know "your" fibro.
Stress makes matters worse, positive thinking helps although really difficult to do making the effort to do a little exercise every day will make a difference to how you feel.I watch diet too and have cut out refined sugars and gluten. Again all individual and what works for me. It may help you to keep a diary to see if there is any pattern. Chin up - we are all on here to help ourselves and each other and there is always someone with a suggestion/answer just a click away.
Thanks everyone its nice to know i am not imaging how i feel and there are people here i can talk too.
Have a painfree day everyone 🌼
Hi, I was diagnosed about 2 weeks ago by a rheumatologist. I get many of these symptoms too and yes find I am very sore in bed and quite uncomfortable, it takes me a long while to get to sleep.
My boyfriend and I bought a new bed around 6 months ago when we thought the old one may be causing my back pain and for a while the new bed did seem to help but since my symptoms have got worse the new mattress is feeing harder and harder.
I think I will try a memory foam mattress topper and see if this helps at all.
Maybe you could try this or a heated blanket? I find a hot water bottle or hot shower helpful after finding the suggestions online.
Hope you (and all of us) are getting better sleep soon.
Winnie woo we all feel old before are time, I get more up set about feeling old at 41 then the pain sometimes, and you kind of get to thinking if this is how I feel at forty something what hope is there when I'm sixty, chin up oh try using pillows to stimes helps x
Omg I'm the same as you I feel like I'm 90 when I'm only 45 I wish the pain wud go away
