Hey, I'm just curious if anyone has taken probiotics and which ones they would recommend? Also, what foods seem to trigger your HS?
Hi, i don’t know about probiotics but last week I purchased a deodorant that you use twice a week to stop sweating as I definitely don’t think that helps with HS. Since using it I haven’t had 1 boil which is amazing for me as I was getting new ones nearly every day. I’ve also started using a soap with helps to fight boils, blackheads etc, so far that to has been really good. And using Thermal water recommended by a few people on here. I’m sure food does play a big part in HS. People say not to eat potatoes anything is worth a shot.
Hi do you mind me asking where what deodorant it is and soap ?
Hi Rocky,
I have gone with and without probiotics pretty safely but I feel like they helped turn me around. Suspect any are good, just need any quality one to change the gut balance somehow.
I'm 100% anti potato but avoid all nightshades. Potato is guaranteed flare which may last a couple of weeks. Paprika and potato are in everything so you have to read labels.
I find nuts give me bad skin and breakouts but not HS.
People say dairy and sugar can trigger. I eat a lot of both but try to limit and don't doubt they contribute.
Good luck!
I haven’t tried the probiotics but I’ll definitely give it a try. Nightshades(potatos, tomatoes and peppers) is one of my triggers and also anything with a lot of sugar(soda, chips, candy) is my trigger as well. I’m currently using hibiclens and seen a slight change. I heard wonderful results about it. I’ve only been using it for about a week so hopefully in a few more weeks i’ll see better results.
Hi there both from Amazon the deodorant is Perspi guard and the soap is salicylic acid scrub soap. Worth a try
Thank you. I’m pretty sure potatoes and paprika are my main triggers. 🦋
Yes the cleanser is great. I also believe these are my main triggers. I believe my immune system has continued to be compromised by the antibiotics over 10 years and in our foods. So I’m taking a new approach. No nightshades, dairy, yeast or sugar for 30 days. I didn’t give up my coffee though. 😌 On day 6 of the diet and day 2 of the cleanse. So far no new boils and the one I have is healed. Once the 30 days are up I’ll slowly enter one food at a time to see what the trigger food is.
I’ve been looking into diet a lot lately and what might be a cause of HS and I’ve found a few studies about gluten free diets or yeast free diets causing complete remission. They are very small studies but the one with the yeast free diet caused 100% remission in all subjects.
My theory is that things like gluten or an overgrowth of yeast in the gut damages the intestinal lining and causes ‘leaky gut’ which allows things like toxins to leak into your bloodstream - which would explain why nightshades are a trigger food for a lot of people.
The study about yeast is slightly vague because at one point they mention a yeast AND wheat free diet and they aren’t super clear about what foods to get rid of but it’s basically anything baked, fermented, or brewed.
Garlic and onion is good for killing yeast and you can take garlic supplements to help, then a probiotic would be good to rebalance (at a different time of day than the garlic obviously).
I haven’t tried any of this yet, but I wanted to share in case it helps anyone else.
Note that B vitamins can be derived from yeasts.
