Problems 5 weeks post Hip Replacement

I was admitted to A&E 5 weeks post hip op struggling to get my breath.

A blood test showed that I may have a blood clot.

After chest X-rays and a CT scan the results came back inclusive.

I am home now after 3 days in hospital and on strong antibiotics.

I don't feel much better and still get breathless.

I also have chronic mucas on the back of my throat that drives me made.

Hi John I'm so sorry to hear your news and that they haven't found why you are having problems. I think I would be hassling them to find out and ring them if you feel worse in any way at any time. I hope you begin to feel better soon.

Hi John. You poor thing! It's bad enough coping with post surgery without other things as well.

Did you have the tablets from the hospital to guard against this? I think I was told to take them for a month post op.

I was on blood thinking tablets for 30 days.

I back to see them in a couple of days once course of antibiotics finished.

i will be telling them all the problems I have.

I ment to say blood thining not thinking tablets.

Hi John, Sorry to hear of your problem, like other people that have had THR I had to inject myself for 6 weeks after the op to prevent any blood clots, not pleasant but worthwhile.

Thanks for your reply.

I had injections in hospital but was given Riveroxaban once home.

The hip is doing fine but feel so down with all the other problems.

Hi John, I feel the same as it is now 5 months since my thp but still having a problem walking, I expected to be back to normal by now, I am fed up with taking pain killers which don't seems to work anyway, so I am not taking them anymore, I will see how I get on without.
