Problems with low blood sugar - bisoprolol

Hello, i forgot to mention reason for taking bisoprolol last time. (My short term memory seems to be getting worse)!! ..

Oh yes, i had a fast heart rate n palpitations which i put up with for a time, but after a while I couldn't stand the feeling of being on a constant high and my heart pounding so hard i was rocking even if i was just sitting down. I felt worn out.

I had a particular bad episode last year which scared me so much i had to re visit my GP and go through all the tests and monitoring i had previously gone through a year before. I was then put on the above medication for benign ectopic heartbeats.

I still have palpitations, but not so many as before. I have found though that since my last posting my blood sugars seem to be all over the place, and if i don't eat for a while the area around my mouth and lips tingle and i get a headache.

I feel like i have been sedated sometimes and can't think straight. Has anyone out there noticed these symptoms (similar to hypoglycemia). I have heard that Bisprolol can bring on similar symptoms of type 2 diabetes? A nurse at local surgery suggested that i have glucose intolerance tests done to make sure I am not in early stages of diabetes..

I am still experiencing nausea and also for no apparent reason i tend to get really hot all of a sudden as if someone has just turned my thermostat up (and no i'm not going through the menopause either)!!!! Has anyone out there experienced this sudden rise in temperature, especially at night? :sleepy:  :nurse:

Hi,i have the exact symtoms as yourself, been complaining to GP and consultant for two years and they tell me it wouldnt be the Bisoprolol.I dont know where to go next, going crazy.

Hi I also am on Bisoprolol and have exactly the same thing. Suddenly Il get really hot, il start to feel dizzy and its even brought on panic attacks, iv been told by my gp its not the medication and she cant explain it.im 24 and so its defo not menopause. whats worse is it can be brought on when i have a cup of tea(which must warm my internal temperature) i have to run and go pour cold water over my face as I think Im going to explode with heat! I sincerely hope medication to cool me down will be created one day!xx

contact the drug company and report to them so they can list it for future ref.

Hi Elizabeth, I also get those exact symptoms and was also told it couldn't be the medicine and I was menopausal or anxious, the first I went through years ago and these hot flashes are different and I wasn't suffering from anxiety although once medics get an idea in their heads.... it is horrible and can be very tiring, I take mine at night to try to sleep through the worst of the side effects and also eat something light going to bed like cereal. However, i do wake up some mornings and I have been sweating especially around my neck and head which is a sign of low blood sugar but I was tested and it came back normal. I have to stay on the Beta Blocker due to Heart failure I have had my dosage lowered but the side effects are the same only slightly milder, I did find using remedies as I did during the menopause helped a little like cutting back on black tea and drinking green or chamomile instead and avoiding spicy and fatty foods. I often wonder do these tablets somehow interfere with our hormones? remember most of these drugs were tested mainly on men and therefore certain side effects didn't show up. if I ever find a cure I will post it. In the meantime take care and at least you know your not alone, menopausal, anxious or a hysterical woman!!
