Progesterone only patches...

Hi all,

Quick question for those living in the U.K... can we get progesterone only patches/topical treatment over here??

I'm on sequi  HRT and one part (oestrogen) is suiting and helping me but the other part (progesterone) isn't! I can get the  same oestrogen in a patch form but want to try different progesterones until I find one that doesn't give me horrible side effects.

Thank you,

AJ.

Ps. I'm hoping the above all made  sense??

Hi there, I think you can get an alternative progesterone patch in UK. I am on the same patches as you, I feel great on them, which considering how I was 3 months ago, is very surprising. I was a total mess and Dr put me on HRT Pills at first, didn't work too well. Changed me to evorel patches, and abracadabra, what a difference! Some women don't get on with the progesterone part which is norethisterone, but I'm ok with it as I used to take the pills throughout the month to suppress my periods so I know I'm ok with it. Google should be able to answer the question, and give a list of available patches and their ingredients so you can go to your Dr well informed. X

Hiya

I am in the same position as you.  I initially had Fem 7 & Evorel patches but was badly allergic to the glue in both. My idea was to have Estradot patch for the Oestrogen & Crinone Gel or Cyclogest pessaries for the Progesterone but unfortunately they are not allowed to prescribe in UK for Menopause even though they are used for other gynae problems!  The doctors option was Utrogestan tablets but they can cause dizziness and I am not willing to put up with that!

I have been prescribed Femoston Conti 2/10 now but they are in the drawer 6 wks on cos I am scared to death to take them!

Let us know if you find any thing helpful.

Good luck xx

Hi both,

I have googled to find an alternative progesterone patch but couldn't find one. I went to the doctor today and she basically said that the only way I can do it is by using the Evorel oestrogen only patch with Mirena coil for progesterone (&#128561 ... I am going to have to really research this progesterone thing as I don't want a coil!!

I asked about progesterone creams/bio identicals but she refused to discuss as they are not on the NHS formulary...

Really glad you feel great Tina, my mum was similar when she used the patches - they totally changed her life for the better.

Daisy lady... we'll have to try find an alternative I guess, I will give the Femseven a little longer but I don't feel half as good on them!

Hang in there and keep smiling girls! 😊❤️
