Almost 7 weeks and doing well mostly with baths n driving n stairs and 2 hour walks.
Today tho was like swimming in treacle. Putting on sox was hard, then op leg felt heavy and thigh hurt on walking. Then an afternoon meeting in heavy soft low chairs which were difficult to get in or out of. Hard to react quick to getting chairs moved into a circle for group discussion
Now home and going to rest. Yesterday put on jeans standing up and I climbed stairs sans hands. Today not so good. Frustrating.
Strangely enough I was just pondering that nearly 6 weeks on and I feel I've stalled a bit. Had visitors at the weekend and did quite a bit, surprised how tired I have felt and how stiff and achey I am.
Low soft chairs doesn't sound good. Sorry you are suffering. It's as if the body is saying remember what you've had done or I will remind you!!
My surgeon insists on using a walking frame for the first 6 weeks. Can hardly wait to be rid of it. I have not tried walking on my own and feel that I am becoming too dependant on the frame. I still have help dressing and with my shower. Sitting in the tub is not allowed until the 3 month point. I have a hydro therapy tub and am looking forward to being able to use it. My exercise routine is sporadic which is bad I know. My left hip also has to be replaced so walking long distances is not possible. I take short walks. This is such a long process and so frustrating.
Strange how consultants and surgeons say different things....me handing crutches back at 6 weeks...you graduating from walking frame later than me. Also just had my second bath again being allowed to at 6 weeks.
Gently encourage you to do low key stretching exercises 3 or 4 times a day.
Good luck with your healing. I'm hoping to resume my own progress too!
I suppose we all have setbacks some time or other. Today I decided to help Bob in the garden, he was mowing the front lawn and I decided to trim round the edge of the back lawn with the long handled shears. Only got halfway and my back ached, my operated hip okay but the other leg started to ache in the groin and buttock so had to stop. Just hope this isn't a sign that my other hip is going to need replacing soon. I suppose I will just have to wait and see. I agree it is frustrating.
8 weeks post op for me and generally i am feeling fantastic - tuesday tho i was achey and limpey and grumpy (tried to think of 9 more!) and i blamed a badly behaved class for making me tense and tightening my muscles thus making my leg ache - everyone gets good an bad days but right now we are still healing and it affects us physically in ways we do not expect but a life changing experience is bound to have ups and downs
