staples out today, not nearly as bad as I expected, the end of the scar tissue is very painful when I walk and feels as if something is sticking in , ant ideas anyone? first pysio today, on a bending machine which was painless at the time but agony later, bend still only 60 but straightening perfect. I have a bending machine arriving on tuesday which I hired for a month so hopefully little but often will do the trick. most importantly i GOT MY OWN LEG UP FROM FLOOR TO SOFA ! it just happened I sat down and without even thinking about it raised it up.I am still in shock !!!
One small step etc. that's brilliant. I had one end of my scar which was a bit more painful but it went after a few days. Did the nurse tell you to massage with Bio oil , or something similar after 48 hours? That made my scar feel better and the massage helped as well. As for the bend, yes little and often, I do not believe n pushing it, at ten weeks mine is 110 and the physio was very happy with that.
Fantastic Dotty Lotty, we take movement for granted but when you notice something like that...its great, I can remember lifting my leg into bed with a crepe bandage then it just lifted by itself... big smile for you.
Brilliant news about the leg, mine still feels like a dead weight! Can I ask where you hired the bending machine from - I am really struggling getting a bend.
Well done dotty your on the mend now the staples are out you will see a big difference with your leg well done getting leg up on sofas too..shows your getting strength back in your leg keep up the good work
Hi I had staples snd some were quite deeply embedded. Al the top of my scar stings still after 20 weeks so don't worry. Leg lifting is good, you will find one day a little thing happens and you gradually improve. My Bend still isn't the greatest but it is still improving so don't get disheartened. Once you start pedalling either on bike or one of the little peddles, it will come! Xx
It's only at the very top end of the scar that I have any 'pain' now. . and it's not really pain, but just a bit sore . . and a bit lumpy. Well done with the leg lifting, and how nice to be able to have your own leg bending machine! I like the way you can gradually increase the bend until you reach your pain threshhold. . only tried it three times in the hospital.
Hi dotty I didn't think having the staples out was too bad either I had my first physio on Thursday she got my bend to 80 but boy did it hurt well done with the leg raising that's what happened to me one day I couldn't doi it and the next it just happened
the phsio gave me the details It is a company called phoenix health care products if you google it you will find phone number etc. I am quite excited about it as I can do it at my own pace . It is really easy to use no pain but if you over do it the muscles let you know.Little and often is my mantra. Best wishes
at this moment in time I cannot imagine ever pedalling ! If I could sit comfortably in a chair with my leg bent I would be thrilled ! Still it will come if only everything wasnt so hard and take so long, but,we will all get there best wishes
Can you do a straight leg lift laying down ? I thought once I could get my leg up on the sofa that that would follow, but absolutley nothing, not even an inch. Maybe I have a mental block on it. Well done on the bend, trouble is its absolute agony isnt it !
actually I forgot all about the bio oil(brain gone mushy) I have it ready and will dispatch hubby to find it now, thanks for reminding me
Yes I can do that I was like that at first tried but nothing would happen and then I concentrated really hard on it and managed to do it , as for the bend I struggle with that physio told me to put operated leg on the step and lunge into it to help suppose we will get there in the end x
I have just managed to get my leg up onto back of sofa by kind of walking it up small victories !
Well done you will get there
Are you practicing to be a ballerina?
I wish ! I just want control of my own leg gave hubby a laugh, I think maybe the op has sent me slightly potty.I get that fed up I will try anything At the moment I am talking to my leg telling it to get a move on (woulnt bother trying this one if I were you as it doesnt seem to be working )best wishes
