Prolapsed uterus

Hello, ive joined this group in the hope of some advice, i have noticed a 'bulge' in my lower region, made an appoinment with the gp who was very unsympathetic, she told me i was really at the wrong place (possibly because i made an emergency appointment?) wasnt sure what else to do, she asked me if i wanted her to examine me? to which i replied yes, when she did it hurt very much even after having children, she said i had a prolapsed uterus but to do some pelvic floor excercises, as a gynae would say the same and to go back in 4 weeks, she made it seem like its very mild, it is however lying along the floor of my vagina (is the only way to describe it) there is also some of it bulging out, i can feel my coil strings when i wipe. I feel like i have just 'been left' and am very distressed about the whole thing. i cant see that pve would help when it seems my muscles must have already gone? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

That's shocking to be sent home and told that. I would make an appointment with your gp and tell them what you can feel and ask for second opinion. Sounds a bit like the consultant who saw me and after my op when I had concerns, more or less said I'd just have to live with it, they are so heartless some of them. Bet it would be a different matter if they were the ones suffering. Make an appointment in the morning and ask for the different treatments available to help you X

Poor you,I know violence isn't the answer to anything but I really feel I would like to punch some of these Gp's who are so unsympathetic. I didn't strike lucky with my first visits but fortunately changed to my husbands doctor and saw a fab lady doctor who got me referred very quickly and have been very lucky to get seen and sorted. he aftercare has been another matter entirely but won't put you off just yet. Keep on until you get seen by a specialist. Good luck xx

Im on the verge of tears again now after reading these comments, i thought i was so alone in this being as the gp thought it was nothing, im not the type of person that lets things get to me, but this has really got me down, and i am so upset by it. My exact thoughts val29779 were its ok for her she is probably in a private scheme that would allow her to just have a repair for things like this, how she dismissed it is beyond me, the only way i can describe it is there is 'no opening' but after her telling me a gynae would do nothing i feel so down, like theres no hope :-( thankyou so much for your replies, i will join the fb page x

Try not to let it get you down, keep thinking positive thoughts, like tomorrow you will get that appointment. You are not alone I promise you. This site has helped me so much and will help you too. We all get the days when we just want to cry ourselves to sleep and feel we can no longer cope, but we do cope and with the help of others and their support you will get through this, take care. If you need to talk I'm here. I never sleep much anyway lol X

Thankyou so much, i have an appoinment for next tuesday for (what i think) is a more sympathetic doctor. x

That sounds awful. Try not to worry (easier said than done I know, I was petrified at the time. ) but make it a priority to see a gynaecologist, don't wait 4 weeks. I was told by my GP that I had a prolapsed uterus when it was in fact my bladder that was bulging. A good consultant should know straight away when he examines you and he or she will let you know how severe the prolapse is and what the options are. So many people have had the surgery and haven't looked back Hx

I went through almost a year of colo rectal procedures...not nice, before I finally saw a gynaecologist, this was almost 5 years after my first visit to my GP with my concerns about the  bulge I could feel down below

Its not just me that crys over it then? i thought i was just being silly, but i now dont feel normal anymore at 39 x

Great that you have another appointment and like Val said don't ever feel alone. We have all felt like you are feeling now. This is a great forum and don't be afraid to ask questions, no matter how silly you think they msy sound. I am 3 weeks post op and can't sleep either.

Thanks for reply Hayley, some have told me to go a&e after doctors response, but i dont think they woud see me, im sure this is my uterus as my coil strings are hanging down (sorry if tmi) but i feel like my bladder is never fully empty, so wondering if its both x

I am 8 weeks post op and have never slept since lol X

Thank you so much for replies, slounds terrible rosieod1 what you went through, im not sure how i could cope with that, ive already took the week off of work this week as im feeling so low, luckily enough my managers were very sympathetic x

Sorry Val, missed this, whys that? complications through op? Gp told me i have to do pve as only other solution is hystercetomy 'and you dont want that!' suppose it costs the NHS too much money. x

I had hysterectomy bowel prolapse repair but had two infections and water infection following.surgery, I'm still not 100% and went for advise about the pain I'm in, I've got a horrid feeling in the vagina since the op and am hoping it's just bruising from the op and will go. to be told ill just have to get on with it. Was fuming and close to tears when I left. My husband wanted to march back in there and have a go but I just wanted to come home and cry lol X

It was and still is,have had a really bad flu/cold virus for the past 6 weeks, been coughing my lungs up or so it feels and am sure something else has dropped down, going to hospital next week for post op check up,only 18 and a half weeks after, will see what they say x

Thats terrible! ive read that funding is so low for this, its put way below anything else along with things like mole removal, so shocking! Hope things get sorted for you asap, sounds like you've put up wit it for a long time x

So yet again, even in this so called enlightened country,us woman are at the bottom of the ladder for anything to do with our ladies parts, how bloody wrong is that ??

Oh i hope it hasnt, so long after too :-( I had a cough too, which gp said is to do with prolapse, along with my job of working with children, her advice... take some cough medicine and dont lift lol x

I still don't feel right and sex has been so painful and I am 17 weeks post op,just want to be back to normal
