Propranolol Is it really effective in helping you tackle anxiety

Hello guys once again its me. Ive been given a prescription of propranolol 10 mg either once or twice daily. However Ive not been taking them daily due to the fact that when i first started on them I was knackered a lot of the time. Now Im thinking to just get back into it as i paid for this prescription and don't wanna waste my money. Im also a bit wary about taking them though I like to cycle to work and back and here's my negativity again. I keep getting a thought that when I have a propranolol and start cycling that im gonna suffer a heart attack or cardiac arrest. Due to the fact they slow your heart rate and cycling raises the heart rate. Maybe just me and being stupid. Also when I was in A&E I got prescribed a tablet called Prochlorperazine for the anxiety dizziness. Has anyone had experience with this medication is it any good.

You are on a low dose of propanolol. I take 160 slow release. My heart hasn't stopped yet. It helps slow rhe heart down but i find it doesn't help with the physical symptons

Hello Jelley

You need to give your medication time to work, it is generally advisable to allow about five weeks to begin to work well.

If you are cycling sometimes I remember I used to get some various signs of discomfort when out of breath, if you feel concerned regards your heart see your GP although as you get more fit these feelings you are suffering from will become less and less.

Good luc with the bike, I preferred swimming and would suffer the same problems mentioned when younger, these sensations eventually became less and I used to swim thirty odd lengths every other day.

Keep at it

BOB

Thanks Bob so the more you exercise the feelings subside.
