I have been taking slow release propanol for about 3 wks which is helping with the physical aspect of my anxiety. My GP has prescribed setraline which I’m too scared to take. I’ve taken it before but not together with the propanolol. I suffered so badly with side effects from setraline before however once they kicked in they really helped. I’m feeling so rubbish right now I’m desperate to feel better but I don’t know if I can cope with feeling much worse. Has anyone took these together and been ok? Tia xx

Your Doctor has given this medication for a good reason, so it is important you take and complete the course under the direction of your GP.
i take a tranche of medications including two antidepressents, I really hate taking medications that I have been on some for thirty years. However over the year I have come to understand there are very good reasons I have to take all these medications. Sometimes I wonder what I would be like if I as clear and I allays come back to my same thoughts, that I ould be in a mess. I took ill over Christmas with a flare and tried not to increase medictions to a level where I could function. After a sharp increase yes I am a bit drugged up, it is better than suffering like a wounded bear
It is generally always to yield and attempt to control our illnesses. Take all yr medications. Doctors would prefer to save money on their prescription account so the medications you have, there are good reasons for the script

Thank you for your reply. My head knows this but the irrational part of my brain is overthinking it. I’ve had generalised anxiety disorder and depression for over 20yrs so I should know better lol

You have a problem an illness that needs to be addressed, the best way of sorting out irrational thoughts is to take on an activity you really enjoy and when you feel Anxious pick up on something you enjoy. If you are able to give a Anxiety complaint several days to clear, that will be a success and you will gain confidence. It is important you stop reading up on health problems, you need to understand your brain is a powerful to and it can work against yo given half a chance. The old saying, mind over matter comes into play where you control your fears

Hi Lynn I to have been prescribe sertraline and am to scared to take it ... Also propanol slow release .. What physical symptoms does it help with anxiety .? I thought it was for panic attacks which I have not got .. Just anxiety
Hi Moira. Well I’m going to bite the bullet and take both today. The propanolol stops the racing heart...choking feeling etc it doesn’t help with the fleeting thoughts or anything tho which is why I’ve to take both together. Just been plucking up the courage to do so lol x
Lynne. How u ? How it's going ?x
Thank you for asking Moira. Gonna be honest...I really struggled the first few days...hadn’t slept for 72 hrs....no appetite...just felt as though my body was going 100 miles an hour. Actually feeling more anxious but I expected that anyway. However this is now day 7 and the side effects are starting to settle down a little. The propanalol has been a god send. I have felt quite light headed but amazingly I have low blood pressure so this is not unusual for me. I’m just hoping that it’s not too much longer before I see an improvement in my mental health. How are you? Xx
