Prostate into Bladder problem

Hi all,

My old post many kind folk helped out with so hope you dont mind me asking further questions.

Have a VERY strange problem . I have had an enlarged prostate and finally get to see the NHS Urologist in 2 weeks to hopefully get some sort of treatment . However at the end of last week started to get a really bad burning in my bladder feeling it spread towards Kidneys. I went to the emergency Doc thinking it may be a UTI . He did a urine test.....and nothing!! So he did the standard Digital Rectal Exam and said the prostate was enlarged and rubbery so must be in some way connected with that . He said that a UTI should be treated with 3 days antibiotics and prostate should be 4-6 weeks so said he would give me a weeks worth and see what happens . No real relief yet after 2 days and a little worried . I am not "Urinating razor blades" which id expect with a UTI so wondered if anyone has ever had anything along these lines as i am a little worried to say the least.

Many thanks all and a belated happy and HEALTHY new year to all my fellow sufferrs.

I had a somewhat similar issue.  I had a CT scan with contrast prior to my PAE.  They told me to drink plenty of water to flush out the dye which I did.  Appaently the over inflating of my bladder from drinking so much water so fast caused pain when I urinated that started in the bladder and radiated back to my kidneys.  sent me to the emergency room.  I was afraid th dye had damaged my kidneys.  After several hours if resolved and I haven't had it since.

Hi Johnthomson

I had bladder problems and was diagnosed with enlarged prostate 18 months ago. For a year I was on pills ,Tamsulosin and finistiride, which didn't help and eventually saw an NHS urologist and had a TURP 3 months ago. I did have problems after the operation, a blackout due to a blockage in the urine passage, I was then on a catheter for a month. I now urinate regularly and good flow and my  bladder empties, my main problem is RE (Retrograde Ejaculation) probably due to the pills I took for a year and also the lack of semen and orgasm during sex which is a peculiar and uncomfortable feeling. See your NHS urologist and enquire about Laser TURP or the new technique TURPi (which uses electric current and saline instead of heattherm and glycin). Good luck and all the vey best .Peter

Hi Peter

I am trying to get to the truth of what it actually feels like to have RE wihich is almost a given with most surgical procedures for treating BPH.

Some say its not an issue others like you have problems. Did your RE occur before or after the Turp? My understanding of RE is that you still orgasm but the ejaculate goes into the bladder and is not expelled. So what is your experience?

Any info useful.

thanks

Jeremy
