Hello. How did they treat your holes? I'm at 11 weeks with a hole. They packed it and gave me antibiotics. How did they treat u? How long did it take u to heal? Any suggestions ? Help I'm frightened .
Hi sorry for late reply. Life gets in the way at times. The hole. Well it was disgusting could see tissue and sinew bone. Was scary because I had verve damage I couldn’t even put a wound cover on it. So I ate antibiotics like candy smeared betadine over in around and waited for scab to form. Slept with leg hanging over side of bed couch wherever I could sleep in short bursts. Antibiotic gave me a condition we lovingly refer to as “tapass” not pretty. And couldn’t have pain relief cos allergies and omg the hives in places I didn’t know I had. Once scab formed well I kept it moist with betadine so it didn’t crust and fall out(it did it once ). It took close to 2 weeks before I felt comfortable to salt soak. Ahhhhhhh I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you don’t have the nerve pain. Xxxjen
Hey. Thanks. Did u wear your boot any way after ur u found out about the hole? Did you do PT with the hole?
Hi again. No I could not wear boot. It caused too much pain on nerve damage. Even the breeze hurt. I tried to but cried every time it touched. I’m a pretty tough old thing but that bought me down in a screaming heap. Surgeon said only wear boot for support and it shouldn’t hurt. If your going to wear the boot make sure you have an Even Up Shoe on other foot.
I am 8 weeks in a boot. My diagnosis is Charcot and cellulitis. I’ve tried to different boots and both rub on the top and side. I’ve tried all types of padding and socks. Fortunately, my foot is getting better from the Charcot and cellulitis, but the rubbing might be causing another problem. I wanted to mention that my pain initially was of the chart. Each time I would hang me foot over the bed or couch a burning and stinging sensation would take over. Initially, I was on prednisone. But, we know you can’t stay on that for any time. My doctor but me on gabapentin and that has been a life saver so far. Good luck as you move forward.
I’m a week out from having this surgery (haglands Achilles bone surgery) I think that’s the name.. anyhow Dr shaved heel bone don’t know if she had to repair tendon or not won’t know until my appt on Fri 12/19/25..
My problem is my boot is rubbing my heel in my incision area. I’ve tried everything extra socks, thick socks, ace bandage, put, padding inside boot but no luck.. This hurts when I walk with my crutches it’s to the point my incision is raw. I’ve still got stitches but I’m to the point I’m ready to call Dr. Kevorkian If he was still alive.. I’ve got a high pain tolerance and I can handle pain but this is I can’t handle..This hurts too bad especially in my heel.. I’m new to this site so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Just in case anyone ask Yes I called my Dr. My dr is in surgery today but spoke with nurse & nurse said I need to talk to my DR so God knows when that will be..
