hello--just new to this forum--anxious to share thoughts and experiences--i am on fluorextine-as some do, i debated fro a month whether or not to take the first pill, as i really hate to be on these meds, due to side effects,etc------i know my body to know that it takes me forever to adjust--so i told my dr. i was going to start slow at 5 mg. and go up to 10 when i felt my body was ready-he said whatever i was comfortable with---now, i have been doing some research and i found in some studies , 5 mg. proved to be as effective as 10mg or 20 mg does-WOW! is anyone on only 5 mg???? i took first does today and felt antsy/agitated for few hours, but wore off----am also wondering when is best time of day to take? --
Hi Rosie
Yes I take 5mg, but i was originally on 20mg which helped me recover. After many years on that dose I then reduced to 10mg and stayed on that for a long time, and have now reduced to 5mg. I've reduced by 5mg at a time. I intend to stay on this until next year when I will stop completely again and start 5-HTP and l-tyrosine instead (cant take these with SSRI's).
now, did u find the 5 mg to be a satisfactory maintenance dose? ty for your reply!
I used to find 10mg was a great maintenance dose, but since reducing to 5mg I'm finding this is ok too. When I was first ill I was on 20mg which was brilliant, but over the years reduced it down. 5mg seems ok at the moment.
