prozac/doxepin Dox causing dizziness doc wants me to change meds

i am on prozac 20mg and i am very sensative to medication. Not only did i have terrible physical and emotional symptoms before meds but i have them when i started and while im on them.

i started prozac 4 weeks ago. i feel it caused some anxiety major loss of apeptite, nausea but mostly gave me insomnia. I started the doxepin 8 days ago and its caused lots of dizziness. ive been on both before as some of you know. but started them again. I cannot remember so much dizziness from doxepin. (i was prescribed doxepin because my severe panic wasnt totally gone and i have alot of GI issues)

anyhow i emailed my doc and she suggested i get off doxepin to see if thats the culprit but ofcouse im afraid to for many reasons (I practically just started, withdrawls, and feeling more sick) and she suggested ATARAX and TRAZODONE.

anyone know anything about either? just so afraid to stop and switch and or switch back.

thank you

Hi Tina,

I see your It dilemma. It can take about six weeks for the medication to work. It would be nice if you could give them a chance, but if you can’t handle the side effects than you should do what your doctor recommends. Something to keep in mind though is that almost all medications have some type side effects. Good luck to you Tina!

thanks brown, I would agree with you. I am just so dang sensitive to meds and im scared if time goes by and i have to switch meds i wont have time cuz i need to go back to work. anyway my own fears that i dread on daily basis which is how i got in this perdiciment to begin with .

You are more than welcome Tina! There are treatments for you that don’t require medications. You could try (TMS)  Transcranial Magnetic stimulation. You could also try doing lots of exercises daily, drink plenty of water, eliminate process sugar, do volunteer work to help others and some type meditation or mindfulness.
