Prozac Helpful?

Hello, I’ve suffered from anxiety since I started school at 7.  I’m now 37 and 12 years ago I started Paxil and it helped.  After my 2nd child had to switch from CR to regular and added Deplin.  It seemed to work and felt really in control until this March as I was trying to wean off.  My psychiatrist switched me to Prozac starting at 5 and worked up to 40 while going down on Paxil.  I’ve been on 40mg for 10 days but have had some pretty severe anxiety.  Will it even out and help me be in control again?  I just want to live and enjoy life again without excessive worry and fear.

I hope it works for you it might need a little more time. I've been on Lexapro for a couple of weeks and I'm still waiting for it to fully work. The doctor says it takes 4-6 weeks to get the full affect.

Prozac can make your anxiety worse for a good while. It took me at full 2 weeks before it started to work properly but the pharmacist told me it could take up to 4.  It’s normal. Just give it more time.

Thanks, that helps a lot.

Thanks.  I know it’s 4-6 weeks and possibly 8 before full effects.  I’m ok with that as long as it’s normal and will work.  I guess fingers crossed.

Give your self time for withdrawal

The withdrawal from Paxil?  That’s been my fear and it’s now been 1 week since my last Paxil.  I was just hoping it would be getting better, not seemingly worse.  The dreaded intrusive thoughts and worry are creeping in and I feel disconnected with everything.

I suppose it is early days, everything takes time. If it has been a week you are heading in the right direction. The drug will take time to get out of your system and if you feel you need more medications phone your GP surgery and explain how you are feeling

These medications take time to get out of your system and withdrawal can make you feel ill as the body searches for the drug.
