Has anyone experienced severe nausea and appetite loss. I cannot afford to loose weight I was loosing weight before I started prozac, and that’s how I convinced myself I have some form of cancer. I ve had many visits to a&e and nothing shows I should be releved but I just think they are truly missing something.
I cannot believe anxiety can make you feel so desperately ill !!! Could this be purely health anxiety.
But my question was more about the Prozac. Also lots of sweating, tingling and feelings of despair and doom
Anxiety and depression can make you feel like that. I didn’t have those type symptoms when I took Prozac. Keep your doctor informed, because there are other medications for you if the Prozac is not working.
Hi Fiona, I am just about to reach my first month on Prozac. I was on 20mg for 2 weeks and about to have finished my 2nd week on 40mg. The nausea is still here with me and I'm also experiencing all the symptoms you've described as well as insomnia, stomach troubles. Its right that anxiety can make you this way, I have severe anxiety so I was trying a new medication. I've really wanted it to work but I'm considering seeing my doc soon and asking to get referred to a psychiatrist to get put on something that targets anxiety better. I hope you feel better soon and can ultimately get on with the medication. Unfortunately most progress with curing anxiety is down to lifestyle change, therapy and hard work. A pill can only give you that boost to get out there and make these changes. Take care!
Did you experience loss of appetite. I have never had anxiety before but my life has been very chaotic. I think everything just spiralled out of control. I’m 49 do probably going though hormone changes too. But just cannot believe how ill I feel 😭
Yes, I am still not eating properly to be honest with you. I don't eat because I want to anymore, its more because I have to. I cannot eat anything spicy anymore when I used to love that and just generally have no appetite. I'm sorry you're going through a rough time at the moment. They always say with these drugs that it gets worse before it gets better.. It is hard for someone to understand how ill it makes you when they haven't been through it, but I know completely what you mean. Hopefully you feel better soon! and if not, it will be time to see your Doctor again maybe for some time off, a short term anti anxiety drug like Diazepam or to get some therapy sorted. Stay strong!
Thanks so much. What time of day do you find best to take meds ? Sorry for all the questions. I think the nausea is almost worse the longer between doses. If that makes sense. ? Maybe just my imagination?
I take the meds in the morning as i wake because apparently its a stimulant, so to have it before bed its supposed to make it hard for you to sleep. Yet i still get insomnia... Lol ironic. And no worries, I'm happy to help if you have any questions.
You seem to have anxiety, that can lead to weight loss especially if you are not eating properly. Did you tell your GP regards weight loss
You will be suffering general side effects from your medication. Give the medication upwards of five weeks to work well
If you are worried regards weight, check it weekly at the same time and day, if possible wear the same clothes to get a more accurate weight. I used to weigh myself in the morning before food
Hey, how have you been getting on with the prozac? have you started eating properly again? I've been getting side effects so I'm going to probably come off the medication. The doctor prescribed me some gastro resistant capsules though and that helped with the nausea and appetite, but it feels like having something else to treat something caused by another med... Anyway hopefully you're doing well.
