I have a friend in his seventies his PSA level is 22 ,he has removed his prostate gland his prostate gland sack is empty ,why the pas level reads that high?
How long ago was his prostate removed? If very recently then the PSA will still be circulating in his bloodstream. He may not have had a total prostatectomy, even though the sac appears empty. If even a few cells are left behind they can regrow and so produce the PSA . If the prostatectomy was for cancer then I hope he is still being monitored by his cancer surgical team.
Thanks Marina Dee
The prostate was not removed due to cancer, and it was becouse of inflammation early 2000 to 2004 that blocked urination.
