pulitile tinnitis/ear-ringing with use of citalopram (week 7)

I am using Citalopram (20 mg) agains anxiety and i am in week 7 (. Very happy up until 2 weeks ago when i developed pulitile tinnitis/ear-ringing. I read that it can be a side effect and it could go away in a mater of weeks. I also read that some advise to stop with the use of citalopram because continuation could lead to permanent tinnitus. I am i doubt what to do and could use some advise from people how had the same problem. I really do not want to stop Citalopram because i can now feel some relief and i am very happy with that.

And if i was to switch meds which is the best because i read that all ssri’s could have the same side effect. Maybe Mirtazapine/Remeron?

hi i had that similar for months..doc said it wasnt the citalopram but i think it was..it has settled now thank God.. it shud settle like mine did.. good luck

thanks that eases my mind a bit. But did you stop using citalopram and did it settle than or did you continue to use it?

Hi Chris,
i had tinnitus for 3 months and then my ears were clogged. it dissipated very slowly. Give it time. I know easier saud then done. Keep me posted of how you are.
