Pulled muscle 5 months post op

Hi lovely people. I've had my new hip (anterior approach) since 31.7.15 and it has been good overall. However just before Christmas I went out dancing and I've pulled a muscle at the front of my hip and the pain radiates upwards towards the pelvic bone all at the front. I saw the GP a fe weeks ago who said it will get better but it's still sore especially after laying or sitting for a while. I also have needed a heel lift as my unoperated side is shorter than the other. Has anyone had any issues like this and will it heal itself ? Thanks xxx

Yes Donna I've got a similar problem with pain in my thigh but have not been able to identify when or how it happened. Mine started after 12 wpo so was a big set back as was yours no doubt. There is a possibility with me that the prosthetic may have loosened at the stem tip so I have an appointment with my surgeon tomorrow to check it out. I will post up the result of my app cos a few others have the same problem and want to know.

Hi, I sat on a very low stool so I could play a game with my grandchild, I must have been sat for nearly an hour& found it very difficult to get up after. The next day I found it difficult to walk with ease as I had pain down the front of my hip +a stabbing pain in my groin, I really thought I had done some serious damage. After resting it for two days it began to feel better so I went swimming today to try and work the muscle a little ,I only did gentle exercises in the pool. I felt so much better afterwards. But I realise even though I,m 5months post op you still have to be careful in what you try to do as things are very much still healing, so take care fellow hippies.II x

Thanks for reply Colin. I hope your appt goes well. A problem with the prosthesis sounds like a big problem so let's hope it's muscular for you. Let us know how you get along next week 😄

😊thanks for reply Susibobs. I hope yours gets better with rest. Clearly we all need to be a lot more careful with ourselves now x

Hi donna,

I had something similar when I got out of the car and forgot to keep the legs/knees together --- I was 9 weeks at that time - couldn't lift leg, drive , because I couldn't lift my leg to get to pedal to change gears ... It went away with rest and gentle exercises -

Who advised you to get heel lift?

How are you doing otherwise, Donna -

Just stretch yourself first, wait a couple of seconds before you take a step -

Arghhh .... I know, still to need it slow huh !!

big warm hug

renee

Thanks renee. The physio took months to agree with me that I have a shorter non operated leg but it's written in my notes apparently!! She advised I get inserts and my GP advised the Orthotist and I've had the inserts for a few days and it feels much better. This pain in the operated leg is 2 months now and not going so I will see Gp again. Xx
