Pulmonary Embolism

hi all, not been on for a while, 11 was post right THP, last week kept feeling pain under right arm and going round to my back, Friday night could hardly breath in as it hurt so much, went to local A and E, they called for an ambulance to take me to Walsgrave hospital, after various tests and scans they found a blood clot on my lungs, so since weekend been in hospital on warfarin and back to stomach injections highest dose of both, now they are trying to get my INR blood count up to 2 or three before they will let me out, it seems to be moving very slowly, I just want to go home, not sure if anyone else had similar.

Sorry that should have read 11 weeks post op

Oh my dear.So sorry that happened to you!!!

I'll pray for your recovery.. Clots can take a While to heal.so take it easy.bless you.

Hi

After other ops on my right hip - resurfacing > pain and severe nerve damage, then full revision > no improvements - 2007 - 2009, had THR on left side, one week ago.

Actual op went miraculously well and I was elated and sooooo relieved.

Two days later, developed chest pain, really low BP. bags of saline didn't help, then blood transfusion improved, to some extent.

Subsequent CT Scan showed clot. Immediately put on stomach injections, then warfarin. Just today hit INR target.

More bouts of low BP and really low sats have been leaving me wiped out.

Depending on sats levels overnight, outside chance of being discharged tomorrow.

The staff have been wonderful. A lovely senior nurse on my ward has been incredibly supportive - she developed her PE after a flight. She's explained to me that this PE will probably really knock the stuffing out of me  ie exhaustion for up to 6 months. And that's notwithstanding recovery from op. Strong and convincing advice to rest as much as possible. Have regular visits to the Warfarin Clinic for some months, to look forward to over next 6 months.

I've found it all v scary, but am slowly coming round now. Breast lumps also discovered, thankfully since diagnosed as benign.

Just coming out of the 'trauma' and overwheingnessbof it all. Now, trying to take it day by day

Do make your wellbeing a priority and claim it for yourself.   Take all the help you're offered.

And let us know how things go. There are some very nice, supportive people on here.

I was diagnosed with the same thing only a month ago after revision surgery. apparently was rather minor as I suffered no damage from it other than not being able to breathe. Also on Warfarin and I hate that stuff and the hematoma it causes.

So sorry you've had this problem.  At 11 weeks post-op you kind of think you've got over the time limit for such complications.  I hope they get you sorted out quickly and back home again.  Take care and good luck.
