I would say a purple rim is quite normal. Can you describe what you mean by ‘the area flares up’?
HI wee, thanks for that. foreskin sometimes becomes aggitated. recent issue is when i urinate, the skin on backside of penis head feels tingly and funny. Not a burning sensation but a tingly one
I would suggest what you could have going on is a combination of circumstances. Whatever you have going on you should only use water to clean the head and foreskin area of your penis with, I say this as long-term exposure to soap, shower gel, perhaps hair shampoo when in the shower, that kind of thing can have a detrimental impact on the sensitive skin of both the foreskin and the head of the penis.
What you also may have going on can be due to siting in one position for a number of hours. So for example, if you ride a bike or motorbike, sit at an office desk (particularly if you cross your legs most of the time), use gym equipment such as a static bike or rowing machine, this could be interrupting either blood flow or the normal functionality of the part of the nervous system.
So, to make this real - think about what is going on when we experience pins-n-needles in the hand or foot - a partial closure of normal blood flow that then triggers a reaction in the nervous system. I would suggest these are the kinds of things you need to look at as well as consider whether the clothing you wear at the lower half of your body is tight fitting.
It could be what is happening will never make full sense and the sensation simply fades in time. I would suggest if you look at the kinds of areas I mention you may be able to put things in place to help this sensation dissipate and fade.
