Purple, raised, slightly sore lump on inside of thigh. Any ideas? (Picture added)

Hi All I'm a 44 year old male and I have found a purple lump on the inside of my upper right thigh just under the skin, which is only very slightly sore to touch. Here is a picture of it:

It is about 1cm in diameter and feels hard, I can move it around with no additional pain and can lift it away from my leg and almost grab underneath it, if that makes sense. I don't know how long it has been there as I don't really check my body too often, but it wasn't there a couple of months ago. I'm not having any other noticeable symptoms so have no idea what this is or how it came about. Any ideas of what this could be would be greatly appreciated, or if anybody has experienced similar I would be grateful to know what it was. Many thanks in advance.

Put a hot washcloth on it several times. soak in a hot tub. could be a deep blocked follicle

Thank you for your comments and I think it may have been an infected hair follicle, as only a few hours ago it burst and released quite a bit of pus and gunk, not pleasant I know but it has now been emptied and is flat again.

Unfortunately guys are hairy, and we’re very prone to this
